Weight loss while breastfeeding

hey all I didn't see a topic started on this, but was wondering if anyone had any tips. I'm breastfeeding my two children and in tying to lose ~50 pounds. I didn't see anywhere in the app to list that and it's putting my daily caloric intake at 1,300 which seems low considering I am nursing. Any advice?

I would highly recommend a nutritionist, who is familiar with OB. Losing while maintaining appropriate nutrition for your little one is a tricky balance and you're right- 1300 calories is very low.0

Hey there! I have some concerns about this as well. I'm new to breastfeeding but was told that I just need to eat 500 more calories. So I added 500 calories to my allotted calorie intake. I'm only on day two so I have no progress to share yet. Hopefully other mommas can share some advice0

Besides consulting a lactation specialist, I would keep a close eye on milk supply.0

1300 is way too little. Your supply will tank on that kind of intake.0 -
1,300 calories per day is not enough for you—much less your little one. Please talk to your doctor.
From the Help section: http://myfitnesspal.desk.com/customer/portal/articles/11477Since breastfeeding varies for each woman, we don't currently offer a specific recommendation for adjusting your calories. However, if you obtain a calorie estimate from your doctor or nutritionist, you can easily change your calorie goal to account for the difference.
Edited to add this link is an amazing resource:0 -
Yeah. I know you're supposed to add 500 calories for BFing. Typically it's pretty easy for me to lose weight just by eating healthier and working out more, but my daughter is a year old and my weight hasn't budged and I feel like I get fatter every day.Give this a read: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10176233/gaining-weight-during-pregnancy-and-losing-it-post-partum

I am BF'ing my second now and just went back to work. It seems to me that everything needs to be in moderation. You can't change diet or exercise too drastically or you will sacrifice supply. And you must drink a ton of water no matter what.0

Hi, I joined at the end of June, my 4th child was born the end of April, I eat about 1,700-1,800 a day. I add breastfeeding as a food and it allocates 500 calories. Lots of water, lots of protein ( eggs, fish, Greek yogurt chicken, peanut butter!) porridge oats every morning for breakfast and if I do feel hungry I do go over as I don't want to jeopardise my milk supply. So far so good- I'm very mindful of making good choices and lots of fruit and veggies. Good luck!0
