100+ lbs to lose in my forties!

Hello everyone!
I am a single mom to 3 busy teens with my oldest going to university next month. I began on MFP at the beginning of the month. It was the day before my visit to the doctor. I am borderline in both thyroid and sugar, and I have managed hypertension already. When I creeped up over 200lbs 5 years ago, my heart broke, but then it got worse when I started university and added another 50. Well, school is done and it's time to get healthy... Maybe for the first time in 30 years! I have lost 20 lbs since I started here already, and I have another 80 to go.
I count calories, and have found ways to still eat a lot of food by sticking to fresh veggies and low-cal lean meats. I have stuck to buying and making everything on my own as much as possible. It was tough not eating a lot of bread and butter and rice at first, but it has been so rewarding seeing the outcome, it doesn't seem to bother me much anymore.
I am hoping to meet up with some folks in the same sort of place in life to help support and inspire each other.
I have enjoyed reading a lot of posts here and find everyone to be fabulous and fun!

Hello! Today is my first "committed" day on MFP, although I have had the app on my phone for over a year and have logged an occasional day here and there. I turn 41 next week, and am almost 300 pounds. (That was harder to type than I would have imagined....)
I am successful in every area of my life except weight loss. My goal for today is to log everything that I eat or drink. I am really going to have to take this one day at a time in order not to feel completely overwhelmed.
I would love to stay in touch with others for support. I also have been motivated by reading about the success of others. It is great to know that others have succeeded where I have failed. Gives me hope0
