I am in need of good shoes as my ankles are hurting from all the twisting and jumping from zumba. Any good recommendations. I can afford unto $50 or so.

Sorry to disappoint, but my running shoes are $100. Sucks, but they are SO awesome. Get fit by a professional and you'll understand what I mean. It's so not the same as picking up a pair at Kohl's or something... go to a real shoe store, preferrably one that specializes in fitness and get fit. You'll never have another pair of shoes!!!!

I definitely recommend getting fitted and a running store is a good place to do so. Someone will watch your gait and make recommendations based upon that and your feedback about your needs. You might not need a running shoe, a cross trainer might be more appropriate. Running, Zumba, and other classes put different strains on the body. Running on a level surface (ie roads, sidewalks) doesn't exert as much multi-directional strain, the for the most part the impact/stress from running hits the same surface at the same angle and shoes have cushioning to accommodate this. It sounds like you might need more stability in your shoe, or your shoes are just old and have lost their ability to do their job. Whatever the case, more than likely you can make $50 work, you'll just have to do some work on your end.

Get some recommendations from a reputable shoe store, Fleet Feet is a national franchise I've used and trust. Don't be afraid to not buy after trying on shoes. You can go online and find the same shoe online and get last year's model for a lot less, it just takes time to find the same shoe in the right size, and compare shipping costs. Check out Zappos and DSW, too. Also, don't feel obligated to get the exact shoe suggested, as long as you keep in mind the guidelines try different brands and see which feels best. Jump around in them, make some moves, don't just take 5 steps and call it from that. Adidas makes some good shoes that fall into the $50 range. New Balance, too.

    Good luck!
