Desperate to stop binge eating

Last year i did really well with my diet, i lost a stone in a month and a half, I'd just graduated and wasnt yet working so i had all the time in the world to be exercising. I now am back to my heaviest and i can't seem to stay in right frame of mind.
I will plan my meals, all homemade and healthy, and then it gets to lunch time ans i am so hungry that i ignore reason and just keep telling myself its ok to eat a burger and chips just this time, and i continue like that. On evenings/weekends, i will literally eat everything i can find anf often bring treats home for myself and my partner. I genuinely think i have a problem because i used to be able to tell myself to have an apple and water instead of ice cream but now i cant stop eating.

hi, I'm really no expert, but from what I've read on here..it might be because you are not eating enough, and then binge. If you had enough food to keep you well and healthy, but just under so you lose weight gradually..that might stop not see-sawing..all the best,R0

True but from 7am until 12 i am unable to eat at work as we are only given a lunch break, and i work in a nursery so i cannot snack on fruit or anything on the job ... and then after lunch i have no food again until 6:30 so its a long time for me to go without eating, meaning im ravenous once i finish at work. I think i might have to start sneaking grapes or something into the toilet with me when i run for a wee lol0

Make sure that you are eating plenty of protein at all your meals. It will make you feel full longer. If I'm starving between lunch and dinner I eat a hard boiled egg. It totally works. I know you cant eat during your work time but if you carry a couple of eggs with you and eat one as soon as you get off work it will keep you from buying unhealthy snacks on the way home. Don't take any money with you either, so you can't stop and buy. I'm reading "Thin Tastes Better" by Dr. Stephen Gullo. He talks a lot about our relationship with food and the feeling of being deprived if we cant have ice cream or chocolate. It's pretty eye opening to me. If you are going to sneak anything into the toilet make it count. Something that satisfies you. Fruit will raise your blood sugar but it digests very quickly and you will feel hungry again in an hour. Deli style lunch meats are good choices or lowfat cheese or eggs.0

It sounds less like binge/ emotional eating and more like disorganised undisciplined eating.
If you wnat to lose weight then you have to be at a consistent deficit. To do that it means eating less than you currently are. You have to make a commitment to do that and be prepared to stick it out. It helps if you understand how weight loss works and you put in place a good plan that enocurages good habits and princuples of basic weight loss. So looking at your problem:
1. Gaps between food famine and feast. Why not plan and prelog your food for the day so that you are eating at regular intervals and you dont have to last long till the next meal. Some people like protein to keep you filled up others like complex carbs, get friends and look at their diaries for what they eat.
2. If you ignore calorific content then you just arent commited enough. Tiy could go for a lower calorie but equally nutrutious option or you could have half a portion.
3. Its really the same with just eating everything, you dotn seem to have a trigger i.e its becayse you get upset, it more just eating too much from your description.

Because she may not feel she can handle the situation on her own and she will be able to get support and advice at her GP. Binge eating is a recognised condition.Getting help

you eat until you feel uncomfortably full
you eat a large amount of food when you are not hungry

People who regularly eat this way are likely to have a binge eating disorder.

Plan ahead and have food ready for your lunch break and after work.
I find if I restrict too much I binge so set your goal to lose 1/2 lb per week but that means you have to be accurate with your logging.
Fit some yummy treats into your calories.0 -
Hello! I have the same problem. I am an emotional eater. I eat my way through the stress. When I am tired I can eat all what is not nailed. It may sounds funny but subliminal msgs really help me to fight my false hunger. I found a couple subliminal msgs for decreasing appetite on YouTube and downloaded on my phone. Works for me.
