You can use RunKeeper without having data access. Basically, you turn off your data and only use GPS. Then when you have wifi access, you sync your run.
This link explains it: How to use Runkeeper Abroad

You can map out your route with MapMyFitness. If you time how long it takes you, you can put that in and it will figure out your average speed and estimated calories burned based on how quickly you finished the mapped distance. You can use the app too to do real-time tracking, but if you map your route after and time yourself, you can save using any data. I sometimes have to do that when it doesn't pick up the transition from trying to go from wifi near my home to out of range of wifi and switching to data, so I just enter in the route after I get back :)

I use MapMyFitness, but I've heard good things about RunKeeper too.

I'm not really sure how much data either use

GPS uses data in New Zealand, which sucks!

Before I had a fitbit I would use google maps to see how far I went when I got home. How long it took let me know how fast I was.

That's what I do when walking outside. I've developed a list of the exact mileage dozens to dozens of places. I didn't walk and then map it though. I'd figure out where I wanted to go tomorrow or later in the week and then get the mileage in advance. Gave me something to look forward to and made it more fun. I'd also say to myself, for instance, that it would be ok to get one of those Mexican ice creams if I walked the 6.6 mile round trip to the paletaria.

I was able to use MapMyWalk while on vacation (with no cell service) if I turned it on and off while in wifi. Otherwise I just used my phone to count steps.
