Why do my feet hurt?

I had a touch of this before but since starting to exercise I have some really bad pain in my feet.
It's only for the first few minutes of getting up, I can't put my feet flat to the floor because it's too painful. By the time I've hobbled downstairs and walked through to the kitchen they are fine again and I don't have any trouble for the rest of the day, even if I go for a walk unless I end up sitting down for a long time. Then again it hurts for a minute and all good again.
I mentioned it to my doctor and he just looked at Me weirdly lol.
I don't run, walking is in trainers the rest is Zumba and Wii fit in bare feet, is this my issue? I don't wear trainers because then I trip over the Wii fit board!
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks

Exercising in bare feet could be your issue but there are many causes of foot pain. If the pain is severe/ongoing you should get an assessment by a physiotherapist.
Try stretching your feet to see if that helps. Here are a few exercises you could try: http://www.heel-that-pain.com/plantar_fascia/plantar_fascia_exercises.php0 -
Plantar Fasciitis? Where in the foot does it hurt? People tend to think of this as a runner's complaint, but it can be caused by many things. I'm surprised your Dr hasn't heard of this! Try the stretches and see if they help, but you may need to go back to the Drs or see a physio to get to the root of it.0

I can't help with what it could be, but I have had this happen too, a couple of years ago.
My feet would hurt to walk on as soon as I got up, but the pain disappeared after a few minutes walking around.
I started rolling a frozen bottle under my feet (arches) in the evening, and then stretching/massaging my feet in the morning before I got out of bed. It helped loads and after a while (I think a month or two) the pain disappeared and I haven't had it happen since.
I never found out what caused it ( I never even asked the doc about it because I thought it was too weird to explain lol). I put it down to having injured them somehow, I walk loads, so I could have easily done some minor damage and not known about it.

I will try the exercises, thanks.
It's feels a bit like muscles locking. It's along the arches of my feet. It doesn't really cause a problem as it only lasts a few minutes I just found it a bit strange.0 -
That's what it feels like when you have Plantar Faciitis. Usually only is painful when you first start walking on your feet after getting up in the morning or after sitting for a while.
Oh, and doing anything barefoot or wearing flip flops is a big no no if you have PF.0 -
I read this thread because, I too, am experiencing foot paint. However, I don't believe its the same. My pain is on the outside bottom edge (side) of my foot and becomes increasingly painful as I walk. If I only walk a few feet or just from one room to another its fine, but if I walk a longer distance (for instance, to my car in a big parking lot) then I keep having to stop to take weight off as its very very painful. Does anyone know if those same exercises would help?0

it might be a stress fracture. I would check with the dr0

Pain upon rising in the morning, pain after sitting. Sounds like classic Plantar Faciitis. I suffered with this for over a year. It's horrible!! Google The Sock Doc. He doesn't believe in all of the "cures" out there (and trust me, I tried them all, they didn't work). He believes in trigger point massage on the leg that you can easily do yourself. Even while sitting at your desk! Check him out. He has all sorts of videos for all sorts of problems.0

I've just Googled this as I'd never heard of it and the symptoms do match. Thank you, now I try things to see if I can relieve it a little.0

Plantar's Fasciitis, and my doctor diagnosed it as soon as I described it. It's common. Is your doctor living under a rock?

I'd get an insert for your shoe, too. The inserts that you get from those Dr. Scholl's machine help immensely.
It takes a very long time for this sort of inflammation to calm down. Plan on it taking a while.0 -

This is what my doctor determined.0 -
glad it looks like just regular old PF0

It might be that your L5 (very bottom) vertebrae is out of alignment. You can either go to a Chiropractor and get adjusted or watch this video for the proper stretches to do to possibly relieve your pain:

Hope this helps.0 -
What you described sounds like what I have plantar fasciitis. I go to a podiatrist who gave me inserts for my shoes as well as a cortisone injection into my heel. The injection was about a week ago and my foot still hurts a lil bit but feels about 90% better. I recommend going to see a podiatrist! Also try to be barefoot as little as possible and dont wear flat shoes like flip flops.0
