30 Day Shred or weights at the gym?!

I currently go to the gym 4-5 days a week. I run 3 days a week since I am doing the Cto5K program and I take a yoga class once a week and a spin class once a week. In addition I keep telling myself to lift weights twice a week at the gym. However, I very easily get bored with lifting and don't stick with it. I had a personal trainer give me 2 whole body lifting programs so there is no reason for me to be bored but in general it is just something I do not enjoy (even though I know how good it is for you!) I have tried before to do the program and I never get through the full 30 days...I always end up missing a few here and there and then it just tapers off. But I am still thinking of doing the 30DS since I am seeing such great results from all of the posts on MFP and probably better results then I can get with twice a week lifting.

So what do you think...generic lifting or 30DS? For those who have completed the full 30 days...did you do EVERY day or use it as a supplement to what you already do in your workout?

I tried 30DS, think i did about 16days and got so bored!!! I didnt see much difference visually, my stamina definitely improved though. However, i much prefer lifting weights. The moves in 30DS dont really allow for heavy weight lifting, something which is definitely important for toning up!!! I used 2kg weights for 30DS but at the gym, i usually use 4kg hand weights and up to 25kg on the arm weight machines.

I would always choose free/machne weights over 30DS but each to their own, at the end of the day it is what you will prefer to do and will keep at thats most important!

I love 30DS, but do agree with lauren about it's more for toning. It will give you definition, but you're not gonna be lifting huge amounts of weights, I use 5 lb weights with it. I have wonderful results though; weight, arms, waist, legs.

I did about 2 weeks of 30 day shred but got bored with it by then. I wasn't improving and seeing as much of a difference as I would've liked. I was still doing weight lifting at the gym at that point and much prefered that. You can move up so much quicker, improve your strength and muscle tone alot better etc

Although, if you don't like it, you're not as likely to stick to it :) do what you enjoy most and that's where you'll see the best results I think.
