Hi all,
I'm 24, 5'4 and weigh it at about 300 lbs. I need as much help and motivation as I can get. Looking for anyone with advice, or who wants to do this with me. I want to live my life to the fullest and right now I am not.
I have commitment and motivation issues, so I need as much help as possible.
If anyone wants to kick my but into shape I'm all for it!

I am right there with you! I have about 105lbs to lose its gonna be a long, uphill battle but I know I can do this! I have to for my boys and so can you! Find something, anything, to keep you motivated..whether it be a significant other, kids, an old photo of yourself...anything! And use it to push yourself..that's what I'm doing good luck!0

Getting started is the hardest part...and you've done that! Once you start losing it feels so great you'll be on your way.0

Hi Kmg,
I'm in a similar boat. I'm 28, 5'8 and about 320. Needless to say my BMI was over 50 and I recently consulted an obesity medicine specialist which is what brings me on this site.
Although I was motivated enough to go see the doctor and start adhering to some of her guidelines I had my rude awakening this morning. She called me with my lab work results and told me that my fasting blood sugar indicates I'm prediabetic and that my A1C states I'm diabetic. Due to the discrepancy she's willing to bet that I am dangerously close to diabetes and has started me on Metformin. Talk about a wake up call.
Our journey will be long and hard but I hope the best for both of us. Best of luck and try to keep your goal in mind every time you put something in your mouth!0 -
Well you're lucky because you've got a few things that are going to make it relatively easy to reach your first goal of getting to 200 pounds.
1. You're still young. You're 24 this is going to be no problem...you can do this.
2. You have a lot of weight to lose. Going from 300 pounds to 200 pounds is going to be the easy part. You'll be amazed at how easy it will come off during this time. Going below the 200 pound mark is where its going to start to become more difficult. Start off your diet with good habits of accurate weighing, logging and getting into a routine pace that you find easy to do.
3. You have all of us here on MFP as support. That's right...log in everyday and get involved in the community. Constently keeping your mind on weight loss, eating right and getting healty will help you to keep on pace and continue the journey.
4. If you stubble and fall there is not need to beat yourself up, just pick yourself up and get back on track. Don't make excuses about it just appologize to yourself and get back to work. Don't wait until the next day or next week just do better immediately.
5. In a few months of dropping weight you're gonna feel like a weight loss pro and all this talk about lack of commitment and motivational issues will seem like a thing of the past.0 -
When a transitional eater requires micronutrients errors leap out needlessly.0

You look better at 300 than I did at 250 and I'm taller than you are.
Do not quit! If you fall, get back up. Everyone struggles and fails sometimes.
It takes a loooong time to lose 150 pounds. Such a long time. Pay attention to how you feel, when you're hungrier or less hungry, what you enjoy, how things work for you, etc. You learn a lot about your body when you pay attention.
Keep at it and don't give up! People have lost more than 150 and you can, too!0 -
I know the phrase is that it takes 21 days to create a habit, psychology studies show it's actually close to 2-2.5 months. Either way, for people like us who have very large weight loss goals, we will be in it to win it for much longer than that! The beauty of that fact? After that amount of time, eating healthy and getting in better shape will be an automatic response to life.
I've done it once and I'm now doing it again. If I can do it, you definitely can!0 -
You can do this! I was losing weight easily when I was logging my food. I slacked off logging thinking I didn't need to and I gained it back. Lesson learned...log your food. There are many groups you can join to get extra support. I am in 3 different ones that just started 1) Fall slim down 2015 2) Halloween challenge 3). 1 pound per week till thanksgiving. They are all great support groups. Also make sure you exercise. Walking is a great! I actually have a support group called Walk the World. Its just a bunch of us adding our miles together each week and see were are destination is. There are also a lot of great free phone apps such as happy scale, runkeeper, human, etc. That will help motivate you. You got this!0

I'm here to lose 100lbs, so I am here with you as well. Just stay within your calorie limits and keep picturing the finish line.0

In 14 months I've lost 101 of 150 goal. 60 yo/f. I've lost every month, no plateaus despite a few medical issues along the way and a work at home sedentary job. You must DECIDE you are going to do this then follow through daily and make adjustments as needed. You can add me if you want.0

Truth.
This was probably my biggest motivator. Once I got started, seeing the losses only made me want to lose that much more.
If you live near a park or have decent, safe sidewalks, start walking. No need to overdo. Diet & exercise go hand in hand, when I exercise it helps me stick to my diet easier...mentally, I feel like I don't want to blow my exercise efforts w/ over-eating.
