Hi All,
Brand new to MFP. 43 y/o Male living in Canada. I've been overweight pretty much my whole life. I have gained and lost literally hundreds of pounds over the years and have just started my latests attempt at eating better. I'm hoping this time will be different and I won't end up gaining it all back (and then some). I've never participated in this sort of online, weight loss community before, so perhaps it will make the difference. I started by simply downlaoding the MFP app on my iTouch b/c I wanted to look up how many calories were in a beer (hint: that might be part of my problem...LOL). I really like the app and hope to continue using it. Not sure what all to post here. I'm in sales and as a result I spend a lot of time in restaurants and bars, which makes losing weight just that much more difficult. That said, the reality is, that for whatever reason, I just can't stop eating things which I know I shouldn't. I liken my eating habits to an addiction (what else do you call continually doing something over and over which you know is bad for and you don't want to do it, but for whatever reason are compelled to continue). I need to get this thing under control and perhaps this community and the MFP app will help. We'll see. Thanks for reading, and I look forward to getting to know you all.

Welcome! You can do this! You'll find so many great tips on eating/exercising from MFP members that before you know it the weight will be gone! Find some dedicated, motivating friends, log your food/exercise & drink lots of water. Wishing you much success on your new healthy lifestyle!:drinker:0

At a minimum you will become more aware. A week or two of doing a food diary and you discover --WOW--I eat that much. Slowly you will make different decisions on what you want to eat. Most of us have a food addiction if we only admitted it. I always called it my only vice. Now I am making different choices. Mostly in smaller portions. Most importantly remember you are in control of your life.0

Howdy daylitemag,
Welcome to MFP! I am a fellow Canadian, but have been living in Florida since 1989. I am new to this website as well, and I'm absolutely in love with it. Nobody judges, everyone is supportive and you see real people with real results. I hope that the MFP community and website will help, I know that I have been very motivated by the community. This website is full of information, and people to help.
Good Luck!!
Add me as a friend if you wish.0 -
Hello and welcome. I really can't add much to what Sheila-Kl said aside from the fact that this is a great place where you can find a tone of information, opinions and support.
