i have been on a diet my entire life it seems, but in the last ten years have managed to gain about 30 pounds due to an injury and not being able to exercise. This week, for some reason, I have become serious about it and would love to cheer you along if you will do the same for me!!

I have been down this road before and it had success however I gained it all back. Well this is a new year and I am more desperate than ever to get fit

I am heavier than I have ever been. I know what diet works for me. I just need to stay strong and keep resisting temptation--need to keep remembering that this is a life changing goal worth sacrificing for

. I want to be able to keep up to my grandchildren who love to go on long walks; I want to be able to work in my garden and not run out of energY; I want to feel more comfortable when I'm sleeping; I want to be able to buy clothes easily and to feel good when I'm wearing them; I want to stay healthy and avoid the problems that obesity brings on.

I am so excited that someone answered me!! I didn't think anyone would. I hope I can be of help to you. I am the heaviest I have ever been also. I can't exercise at this time, but hope to be able to after next week if I get the okay from my physician. I have been doing well so far, have been keeping a food diary on this site and also trying to keep busy during the day. My worst time is at night. I seem to get hungry about 9:00 p.m. Do you have any hobbies that keep you busy? Btw, my name is Barb.

I know what you mean. I was on weight watchers but when I went off plus I had knee surgery I gained it all back. I know at my age I will never be what I was when I was younger but I would just like to get into some of my clothes that I could wear a a couple of years ago. I try to walk plus I have a treadmill but I just don't seem motivated plus I could go to gym free of charge because I am in Silver Sneakers. It seems like a no win situation at times

Hi Barb, I am another Barb - also just starting out. Just turned 70 and want to lose at least 15 pounds - but more importantly, get stronger. Gets harder to do everything as we get older - I want to fight it as much as I can! This site, and the app, and the community may do it this time. I have (one of) the same problems as you do, Barb - night eating. Since I am a nightowl, 10 pm is several hours past dinner. :( Maybe we can all help each other!!

Hi all! I turned 70 this year also. I have 30 pounds I would like to get rid of. I also have clothes I would like to get into. I guess we are all in the same boat. I have tried so many diets, even trying Nutrisystem earlier this year. I did not lose a pound. Of course, when you are eating M&Ms as a snack, it doesn't help. I haven't had chocolate at all this past week which is monumental for me. I would love to be able to just make the decision that eating foods that aren't good for you just isn't what I should be doing. I am trying to talk myself into that, and if I can do it, this whole process would be so much easier. And Barb, for late night snacking, I made air popped popcorn for last night. I would rather have had chocolate, so I was kind of proud of myself that I didn't...also, water helps if you like drinking it. Fills you up...

Age is just a number. I'm 54 and I've had both knees replaced bounced back and forth with my weight also for years. I love this site, the support and motivation is awesome. Add me if you like and I will help cheer you on. Marsha

My husband also. He is the same weight he was 47 years ago on our wedding day. I had a surgery 8 years ago where the doctor screwed up and now I have a leg that doesn't work very well. On top of that, I broke that foot about five weeks ago. So I am hoping to get out of the boot monday. If so, I do swim and I also ride a stationary bike. I used to love to walk, but unfortunately can't do that anymore. To motivate myself to walk, I used to listen to books on tape, or listen to music that I loved. I wouldn't stop until the CD was finished.

this is the outlined star even with the thread heading...not the black star up top of the page that shows which threads you have bookmarked. The black star is the one that will show it though after you have highlighted the yellow one. Its confusing when I try to explain it...but its really simple.

Hi, I am 70 also. I would like to shed about 20lbs. It would be nice to try on something and not feel like I don't like how it looks on me. If I could loose 20 lbs. I know i would feel a lot better and look not so chubby.

I am trying to stay around or below 1200 calories and make good healthy choices, It looks like it is easy if you stay away from chips, ice cream, cookies, cakes candy bars and pies. The meals don't really take too many calories, it's all the junk we like to consume.

I have a tendancy to inject my meals with veggies, whole wheat pastas, or wild rices then just lower the proteins a bit. I use animal proteins to just flavor my meal not take it over. I also use alot of spices to rev up the flavors. Plus the ceyanne pepper makes me drink more water...so that is good.

Today we had a family birthday gathering, followed by grocery shopping. I stayed on track all day!!!! Even the drive to and from the city

I am very pleased. Maybe this is a good sign!

Grandma, these "diets" (especially the ones that make us feel very hungry and grumpy) do not work. Calorie counting, mindful eating and exercise does :) I would love to cheer you along if you would like to add me.

Hi coco bee. Thanks! I need all the help I can get. I am not on any particular diet. I am just trying to not eat between meals, eat only one helping at meals and I cut out chocolate . My most difficult time is after dinner and before I go to bed. I have light snacks i am trying to eat, but I have to convince myself they are enough. I also have to try to increase my water. Hopefully after tomorrow I can start exercising and that will help.

Good Morning! I am a grandma of 3 very active boys. I have been overweight most of my life. I would love to be your buddy. I just started again yesterday. I have had some health issues but I'm not even going to talk about them. I don't need a crutch. That is the attitude that has made me quit over the last few years. I've got a lot of weight to lose but it's a lttle less today than it was yesterday. Let's do this!

I'll be 60 in January, married, mother of two daughters and grandma of two grandsons. Also trying to get that doggone elusive college degree before I'm too old to remember why I wanted it in the first place, lol! Over the past year I've lost 70 lbs on a low carb plan and want to lose 30-35 more. Nice to see so many "partners" here.

My name is Maryann. I lost about 20 pounds after my doctor said my triglycerides were high. I got them lower and now have gained a few pounds back. Triglycerides went back up. I have to get back with the program!
