Hello - my name is Joanne and I am 63 years old. I have started trying to eat healthier and do some walking. I have one bad knee with arthritis and also arthritis in the lower back so some days walking is out of the question. I try my best but some days I need a good swift kick in the rear to get me going.

Looking forward to hearing from anyone interested in helping me with moral support

Thanks

Just make sure you are mindful of what you are eating so even when you can't walk you are making good food choices which will help. Good luck!!

Congrats on finding MFP. I'm only in the first few weeks of my jouney but have found the tools and the support to be really helpful. A coupe more exercise ideas for you are swimming or aqua arobics, or the recumbent bike. The water is always a good place for people with joint issues to exercise and the recumbent bike at the gym can be done at low resistance to get your heart moving without placing weight on your joints. I know some gyms are very expensive, but check around. In this day and age many are running specials. They will also have trainers who can help you exercise within your limitations. Amazingly, there are a few older folks at my gym who are exercising while wearing their oxygen !!! Your local YMCA is another option -- they often have a pool and sometimes they can help with membership costs if that is an issue. Best of luck to you -- be totally honest with yourself and log everything that goes into your mouth & you'll do great!
