Never thought about the weight piling on at 50 until my doctor suggested gastric bypass surgery. Reality check kicked in what happened to keep me from knowing that I am carrying a whole other person around. 5ft 4 283.3 lbs. Now it's time to eat healthy and lose the extra baggage. Any one else can identify with me.

Yes, I started at 45, 5'2", 244 with high blood pressure and being offered another pill to counter the side effects of the first pill for my HB. I decided to take responsibility for my own health in the way only I could. Work with your doctor to find a realistic weight goal for you, mine was 175. While I won't say eating healthy will hurt you I just think that sometimes people have the wrong idea about what that really means. Start by learning about calories and serving sizes and you will be amazed at the amount you probably eat and where you can cut calories initially without too much shock to your system. Then as time goes you might change your eating habits based on how eating certain food make you feel. I initially never thought about exercise but getting active instead, now I exercise, which can and should go hand in had with a good diet.

52 is not too old to feel better and realize that you can still do amazing things with your body. Just take your time and know that in hindsight it is not that hard but while you are going through it, it may feel like you will never reach your goal. Best wishes!
