weight loss isn't a linear process...you're not going to lose exactly X ounces per day or anything like that...you aren't going to lose exactly X Lbs per week...weight loss is a trend and you have to look at trends and averages.

This^^^. It's a marathon, not a sprint and water and what you eat will make it fluctuate on a daily basis, sometimes by several pounds. Please don't get too focused on the scale as your only measure of success. Take measurements, have your body fat percentage done, how much longer/farther/harder can you walk/run than you used to? How much heavier can you lift? How much deeper can you go into those yoga poses?

Consider weighing yourself only once a week, and always at the same time under the same conditions.

That's not how it works. You should take a look at weight loss over a longer period - like a month at least - rather than a day by day minute by minute basis.

Monthly. Have monthly targets. Weight goes up and down for lots of reasons, but if you eat at a deficit your fat stores will slowly go down. Sometimes the scale will confirm it, sometimes it won't.

I think you need to be looking more long term than daily weight change. The fact of the matter is water weight fluctuates so much in a day, you won't get a real accurate measure of true weight loss in such a short period of time. You can certainly weigh yourself daily, but look for loss to happen over weeks and months, not days.

What I have been trying is weigh in the morning. When you wake up. You must drink at least 2.5/3 litres of water per day I'm currently on 1200 calories per day diet but some days I'm over and sometimes my exercise pushes me to have a few calories left.
Before bed I weigh myself I try to be the same weight at night as I was that morning. So time on the cross trainer or getting my 10000 steps per day helps achieve this. This is a mini goal that keeps me motivated.
    Lost 9.2lb in 7 weeks
    Good Luck with your journey.
