Mexican Food!

So I've kept my calories pretty light today, because I know I'll be going out for mexican tonight (YUM, my fav!). I have a little over 500 cals left for the day- any suggestions on what I should order without totally killing my day today? I was thinking a tostada, or fajitas without the tortillas (I like them better that way anyway) beans and veggies maybe? I'm going to Enchilada's, if anyone has one in the area!

Thanks for the help!

Mexican food is always a tough choice for me, too! I agree with the tostada and fajitas. I am sure the refried beans are full of fat, and probably best to stay away from the delicious sauces and items with cheese. Tostadas and fajitas you can skip the tortillas more easily, too. If you can get the meat to be shredded rather than ground, that is probably better. Guacamole can be a healthy fat in moderation if it is just avocados, so that is hard to know. I did go out to lunch with someone one day who actually asked the server how big the portion of fish is. They knew that all lunch portions were a certain size, so that was good to know. I should try that at my Mexican restaurant. Good luck with the chips!! = D

When it comes to mexican food I usually get a kids meal and have a few chips with salsa with a water to be safe with serving size because restaurants always give way more than they should on serving size.

I admire your dedication. Mexican Food is just one of those things that eating wisely doesn't work with for me! Good luck!!

I just had mexican last night. I split chicken fajitas with my husband and we substitued the rice and beans for veggies (broccoli, cauliflower and carrots)...because we did that, I didn't feel bad about eating 2 tortillas (but I stuck with 2). Try and limit the chips and try pico instead of sour cream, guacamole, or cheese. Mexican is my favorite too! Oh and stick with water : )

usually soft chicken or fish tacos ( if they dont fry the fish), make sure there is no sour cream on them, use lots of salsa(YUM) order them with light cheese. some restaurants have some light items I know rubios has health mex tacos and burritos that have alot less cal and are really good...If they have street tacos ( the kind you get from the taco trucks those are a good choice) ENJOY
