Healthy snacks

so I have noticed some fruit n vegetables are healthy then other which one are the best to snack on to keep from going overboard on your calories

Personally, I generally like my snacks to be a little more substantial (more fat and protein) to keep me from getting hungry again quickly. String cheese, guacamole, jerky, grilled chicken, hummus, quiona/beans/feta.0

My Grandfather gave me some of his homegrown tomatoes...omg they are huge and a delicious, satisfying snack with nothing but some salt & pepper. Regular grocery store tomatoes just don't even come close!0

No foods are off limits or "bad" when taken in context of an overall balanced dietary intake that results in a calorie deficit.0 -

i dont know it seems like there are bad foods the people that sell bacon grilled cheese mac and cheeses downtown probably wouldnt agree either but i digress i like celery and peanut butter and kale chips are okay I dont think i made them right and they stabbed the crap out of my mouth and throat

Sorry there is no bad food only too much food. Very simple

Here's some fun food that I consider healthy for myself that isn't something that I would typically binge on. I try not to eat foods that trigger binges in the past. This is me and we're all different, ppl without binge issues share that they can eat anything, it doesn't work that way for all of us, we're all individuals that way.- home made Pita chips from Pita bread or tortillas w/hummus or salsa
- apple/nut butters
- roasted chick peas
- fruit with nuts (walnuts and almonds are always yummy choices..unsalted and raw is how I buy them)
- cottage cheese between tomato slices or chopped up tomatoes in a serving of cottage cheese
- banana slices with nuts butter spread in between eaten frozen (extra YUM) or fresh sliced
- banana sliced length wise spread with nut butter rolled up in a Whole wheat tortilla (Mama Lupe's Low carb makes this a great snack, most other brands would turn this into a meal)
So many more goodies... don't be afraid of any foods but if some have given you issues in the past you might want to avoid them for a bit until you feel you have a bit more control over them. But really 'diet' foods of the past that we have lodged in our heads are just simply foods. If you love Wasa Bread with cheese slices... go for it, as other have shared it's all about learning moderation.
I've found moderation on some foods the harder part...so for me staying away from some foods for a bit has been a good decision for myself.
Have fun and realize this is for life! You no longer have to live in a 'diet world'! ;o)

How do u make roasted chick peas I brought some cans but don't know how to make them n yes I do once in Awhile enjoy the food I love I just stick to the serving amount n not eat the whole bag lol0

Decided instead of copying the recipe I'd just leave the the link here as it's got some really helpful comments and tips. This references using canned Garbanzo/Chick Peas, I prefer getting dried in bulk and soaking my own and then cooking for a bit on the stove top. I then roast them, I find they turn out much crispier than using the canned version to roast.

Snacks for me are Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, lactose free ice cream, popcorn, cookies, candies, leftover whatever in the fridge--all in moderation, which is the key phrase with any meal or snack we choose.0 -

I have a friend who makes hummus using canned garbanzo beans/chickpeas, and it's delicious.0 -

I usually keep 5 snacks on hand to eat them every few hours at work. Usually, with my current diet, I get hungry ever 2 - 2.5 hours, and I am on a 1200 calorie a day diet because I am just starting and with a sedentary job. After eating so many different types of snacks, I realized that broccoli, bananas, and carrots fill me up pretty good. These all have very few calories. For instance, 1 cup of raw broccoli has ~31 calories. That and water will fill you up quickly. A lot of people choose celery because it actually takes you more calories to chew it than you are digesting. 1 celery stalk is 6 calories and full of water. From what I can gather, eating portions of low calorie and filling veggies every few hours boosts your metabolism.

I just ate a hard boiled egg and a weighed serving of baby carrots. Got protein and fiber in one shot.
I'm doing as others have said. Sometimes foods are okay, just balance them out. Sometimes a snack will be a cookie or a trader Joe's truffle. Just not all the time.0
