So I am going on a long car trip this holiday weekend and have never really "traveled" while on this new lifestyle. Any tips on snacks/food. I already have some cheese, carrots, celery but anything good that is healthy and "exciting"???

Jerky, fruit, and while not the most healthy thing but fairly low calorie I can't do a road trip without red vines!0

Jerky, and gum to keep me from tasting the kids snacks. Lots of water also.0

Potential for distracted driving. Park the car first.0

I just did a long trip by myself... I packed a cooler with dip (greek yogurt + seasoning), cut up veggies, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, beef jerky, fruit...
Honestly, I found driving to be mind numbing and ended up enjoying the things that I could mindlessly eat, just to chew... so I'd recommend tons of celery, cucumbers, jicama sticks, jerky, etc...0 -
I'd probably chew on gum and drink seltzer. I like cucumbers with salt and chili paste, same with yellow peppers. Maybe some pre-popped popcorn.0

We don't eat during car rides, but if it's a long enough one, we will stop at a local restaurant recommended on Yelp.0

Better not to eat while driving. It isn't safe, it makes a mess of the car and to be honest you won't really be able to enjoy the food. It If you are going to over indulge in calories do it in a way where you can really enjoy it and make it on something that is really good. Not just salty junk. Pack a cooler and plan to stop someplace for a picnic or stop at restaurants along the way that offer unique local fare. For the driving part pack some Audio books on CD and lots of great music to sing along to.0

I always pack a salad for meals. Then we stop at a rest area or even fast food if that's what my husband wants and I eat my salad while he eats whatever (sometimes he packs a lunch, too, for rest area stops). For snacks, fruit, dried fruit, a Quest bar, nuts, celery and peanut butter.
Oh, and audiobooks are awesome for mind-numbingly long, boring car trips.0 -

We probably will for some of the ride (stopping and eating) but I'm not going alone, and the other car riders aren't having to change their lifestyle so I'm sure there will enough soda;s, chips, and little debbies to kill a 5 year old! But I am the one making the change so I don't feel like its fair of me to sit and be mentally hangry b/c I don't want to waste calories on a 300 calorie pumpkin roll thats as big as my thumb LOL

popcorn, apples, oven baked chips and similar, chewing gum and litres and litres of diet sodas for me

Freeze dried fruit- it's less calorie sense then dried fruits and gives you that crunch.0
