Stregnth training is awesome!!

So, I have just started stregnth training with the hope to compete powerlifting one day. I have been lifting about 6 weeks now and LOVE it!!
I have been following a calorie count also, although alcohol usually messes this up, and although I haven't lost any weight my measurements are reducing, my clothes are getting baggy and I can see muscles starting to form.
I started a sugar free diet some time ago and the reduction in sugar has totally changed my attitude towards fitness and exercise and I am motivated to complete cardio daily, although I do not enjoy cardio like I do stregnth training.
I'd like to hear from anyone who has been through a similar experience, just starting out or who can offer any advice and support to someone on the road to building muscle and losing, quite a bit, of fat!

I am far from complete on my strength journey. I don't power lift, but I do cross-fit and one thing that originally discouraged me was that I felt my body changing, and my clothes all looked...off... but my pants size stayed the same. It took me awhile to put two and two together that, although I was turning into an awesome sexy beast, the squats made my butt/thighs bigger. So although my clothes were big in the waist, the size didn't really change. Before I realized that, I felt really discouraged like--I was getting nowhere. I suggest taking pictures periodically - every few months probably. Pictures don't lie the way numbers do sometimes.0

Pictures and measurements with a tape measure are critical to gauge success. I haven't lost a lot of weight in the last 16 months since I started lifting and eating near maintenance but I have definitely shrunk. I fit into clothes I could only wear at 10 pounds less than I weigh right now.0
