Struggle with food

Hi,
I have never done this before so it's a bit odd for me. I'm 23 and disgusted in myself. I am yet again trying to lose weight. And there's a lot to go. Size 22, wanting to lose minimum 100lb. I really struggle with food, will power and saying no. I can have my head in gear and be amazing and see the weight come off, one little trip up sends me right off and months down the line I try to start again. Story of my life for the last 7 years. I'm looking to see if there is any support out there, anyone to talk to when you want to just binge. I'm going to start tracking from tomorrow and try to excersize (I hate excersize). Not sure where to start. But porridge for breakfast maybe a good start!

We all have little trips that send us off. The point is to get back to business the next day and not months down the line. You have to forgive yourself when you slip up and start the next day with a clean slate. Purchase a food scale and weigh your food to ensure you are staying withing your calorie limits. No special food needed to do this. As for exercise, you don't need it to lose weight but it will help in other ways. Start with walking if you have to, there's no need for fancy/complicated work outs. The key is to be consistent and if your good days outnumber your bad, you will lose weight.0

Try searching the forums for BED or binge eating disorder and you will see that you are not alone
I get a better high from exercise than I ever did from ice cream - the trick is finding an exercise you like. I like to do yoga, swim, hike in the woods, and garden. In fact, I'm off to rescue my kale from the cabbage worms.
Good luck!0 -
Don't go crazy with the restrictions. If you enjoy your regular foods in smaller portions along with more healthy choices you will be a lot less likely to binge. I started here in March needing to drop 99 pounds. So far I have lost 32. It does not come of fast. Sometimes I gain a few pounds for a week or a few days and once for almost a month. But that came back of and then some because I just stuck with it.
As for exercise. Instead of looking at it as a chore you have to do look for some kind of fun activity that you can do regularly. Preferably a thing that is done in a group or class. Sharing an experience is a great way to stay motivated to keep going when you are having a day when you would rather eat ice cream in front of the TV.
I can not exercise just to exercise either. That's just plain boring. However I spend 6 hours a week doing a martial art and I love every minute of it. And I just happen to be sweating a lot while I am having a great time and learning a new skill. I also ride and work with horses which is great fun and exercise. I also got a membership to our botanical garden which is a huge greenhouse that can take 2 hours to walk through. A great place to get out and go walking, especially in the owner months or when weather is bad. Last Friday I logged almost 10,000 steps, on my day off, walking around the local Art museum.
Other people take dance classes, or play volleyball or do yoga or volunteer to walk dogs at the animal shelter... there are so many fun things you can do that will give you great physical activity that is enjoyable.0 -
Thank you for your advice. I'm feeling positive this morning and it's nice to know there is support out there for when you are losing hope. ☺0
