I recently started working out at a gym. Im 280, trying to lose 80-100lbs. Ive been working out at the gym for about a hour 6 days a week. I have found that although Im very tired by the evening, I can not fall asleep. I wake up several times a night which is out of the ordinary for me. I haven't had a full night sleep since I started. Is this normal. Or has anyone else experienced this?

Do you exercise in the evening or in the morning? I find if I have a big workout in the evening I struggle to sleep. But otherwise, I'm sure your body will soon adapt to the new energy you have from working out and all the new endorphins.

What was your routing before you started in the gym vs now?
Do you get enough rest time between coming back till bedtime for example?

This happens to me too. I finally figured out that I get BAD insomnia if I am magnesium deficient. I drink 1oz of raspberry flavored Natural Calm and it totally works. Just don't drink more than that because you'll end up camping out in the bathroom!

This happens with me also. Even if my nutrition is in line, certain things get me a little bit too "jacked up" to allow me to sleep well soon after.

Hello everyone! Thank you all for the feedback. To answer a few questions, Before this "lifestyle" I was a total couch potato. Single mom of 2 girls. I'd sit all day at a desk then come home and sit all evening in front of the tv. I would sleep like a rock. So this is very out of the norm for me. I go to the gym daily after work usually from 3:45-5:15pm or so. However I did go this past weekend at 9ish in the morning and had the same trouble once night came. Hopefully my body just needs to adjust to the complete 360. Glad to know now I'm not alone, and this happens...Thank you!
