I'm confused! I did 35 minutes on the elliptical and am not sure if I log it on MFP or on Fitbit app. I wore my Charge on the elliptical btw. Help!

Fitbit. If your Fitbit has exercise mode, use that. Actually, Fitbit will count your calories burned anyways, and mine at least does recognize exercise and will log it for me even without exercise mode (your 'active minutes'). But don't log it on both, you'll end up double logging that way.

Not sure what exercise mode is. I logged it on Fitbit app and it asked for time/duration. Hope I am doing it all right! Thanks for answering!

Enter exercise into the Fitbit app and food into MFP.

@dubird is right. Exercises where you are moving your feet are likely to be already calculated by your Fitbit and there's no real reason to enter them manually. If you do, your entry will just override the calories Fitbit calculated for you already.

So for elliptical I need to log manually, right? Even if the machine has moving arm things?

Power walking doesn't need logged though because the Fitbit catches that?

If you look at the Fitbit app did it give you "steps" during the time you were on the elliptical? If it did, you shouldn't need to enter it manually. If you feel it's off, and you trust the calorie burn you are getting from the machine (I wouldn't) or a heart rate monitor (much better) then go ahead and enter the time and calorie burn manually into the Fitbit app.

If you have a Fitbit Charge HR or Surge, you don't really need to log any exercise at all.

No need to log any step-based activity—your Fitbit is tracking it for you. Log non-step exercise (like swimming or biking) either in Fitbit or in MFP—never both. Exercise logged in MFP overwrites your Fitbit burn (which is TDEE) during that time, so I log in Fitbit.

Elliptical is more than just steps, so I would log it. But it's going to take trial & error to find what works for you.

I just have a regular Charge not HR. Thanks for the help everyone!
