More weight training than cardio for visible abs?

Hi everyone,

I am curious to know if weight training a more effective way to visible abs oppose to a ton of cardio. Currently, I do kettlebell workouts and 10-15mins of HIIT. Diet is usually good, but I do drink wine 4-5 times a week. Any suggestions for visible abs?

Lower body fat - your choice how to get there.

    Low body fat.
Then, when you see what you've got, if you want you can try to make them bigger with a progressive overload ab routine.

Does wine stop the fat burning process?

A calorie surplus stops the fat burning.

I ran and swim do decrease my body fat and I also did 100 crunches a day with a 8lbs medicine ball. Worked for me

Visible abs boils down to having well developed abdominal musculature plus a VERY low body fat percentage (especially hard for us woman). Even at a very low weight I did not have visible abs until i refocussed my workouts (sprinting, kettle bells, focussed ab routine) and ate a very restrictive diet (only vegetables and lean protein, nothing processed, definitely no alcohol--> abdominal weight gain, bloating, water retention- no ab definition). Unless you are genetically blessed this is what is required for visible shredded abs. I found for a period of time the diet was fine to get that shredded ab goal but definitely not something to maintain in the long run. Even when working out 1-2 hrs per day, intense cardio and weight training, without the uber-restrictive diet super defined abs are just not to be had.

    Thank you!! @_benjammin

So many articles and studies that say alcohol impedes on weight loss due to it taking digestive precedence over food; alcohol being a toxin which makes the liver want to expel it as quickly as possible. So as long as I do not go over my calories, I should be good!!! AWESOME!!

While the part I but in bold is true, that won't prohibit you from losing weight.

What the hell is a "proper 6 pack"?
Ab genetics will determine what they look like, not what you drink.
Drinking nearly every night and drinking excessively (~10oz of booze) once or twice a week and I was fine with the result.

Your diet and body fat will do more for your abs than anything, however i also believe you need to do resistance training on your abs to develop them like any other muscle.

I enjoy alcohol and drink. While on a calorie deficit diet and working out I have lost 29 pounds of fat and added 5 pounds of muscle. I wouldn't advocate getting smashed every night, but I do enjoy a couple of glasses of wine.
