B Vitamins - Question

Every time I take B vitamins, or any supplement containing B vitamins I have adverse reactions such as being groggy, being in a very bad mood (angry for no reason), aches and pains, general numbness and a general feeling of yuk! Like clockwork, I begin to take something with B's and within a day or two these feelings hit me. I stop taking said supplement and within a day or two the feelings go away.
Question -
Anyone else have a problem with B vitamins?
I was trying to find some information on this but I wasn't really able to find anything specifically related.
Thanks!

(1) Does this happen with other supplements? Maybe it's the binder and not specifically the B?
(2) Is there A LOT of B? Or just, like, the RDA of the Bs?0 -
Nope, no other supplements, just ones containing B's and/or B vitamins alone.
I haven't determined the amount but I'm guessing the RDA since nothing I've taken would have a super high level of Bs. It's a little crazy because pretty much everything I eat has one B or another... I never took it to increase my level, just so happens that when I have taken something with B's I've had this reaction.0 -
I'd just stop taking them. Bs in food shouldn't give you a reaction.0

Yes. I do and a friend of mines father thought he was developing alzheimers after taking it. Your symptoms can be a common reaction.0

Yeah, I make sure I don't take them or anything that has them. Bs in my food don't cause me any reaction at all. It's impossible to find a good multi without Bs lol!0

Oh! Good news... not that you have a similar reaction but that I'm not the only one who has had this happen! Do you have any idea why? Ever been to a doctor about it? Do the reactions I describe sound like yours as well?

From what I've read about B vitamins, there isn't a toxic level as they just come out in your voiding. So it could be something that is with it.0

I used to take B-6 vitamins but since losing weight I can't seem to handle them anymore. I have some general pain/discomfort all over and they sometimes seem to make me tired or grouchy. Just say no!0

I am a pharmacist. B-vitamins are usually well tolerated when taken in doses as labeled on packages. They are water soluble, so your body excretes what is not absorbed for use in the urine. Excreted B-vitamins can give urine a neon yellow color. It sounds to me like you might be having a reaction to an inactive ingredient or dye in the vitamins. B-vitamins are actually used to help boost mood, increase stress tolerance, and increase energy. A derivative of folate (a B-vitamin) is actually available as a prescription anti-depressant. So what you are describing sounds like the opposite of an expected reaction to supplementing with B-vitamins.....0
