Okay, so, seriously: need tips on nutrition and becoming healthy -- WHILE being pregnant. Also, exercise. WHAT DO I DOOOOOO. I mean, besides make awesome plans about taking over Jupiter and having bunnies with laser eyes. Because that'd be the awesome thing to do. But it won't help my baby do much other than become an evil overlord. So.

I'm the proud mother of a seven month old.

I was able to exercise throughout my entire pregnancy. I played tennis (doubles) until the end of my sixth month. For the last two months I walked on a treadmill (3.0-3.5MPH with 10-12% incline) to keep fit. Didn't have any problems.

    I hope this helps.
  • you can buy work out dvd specific to pregnant women....just walking never hurts either! Your doctor will have some good suggestions too... Swimming feels GREAT once you become huge. It takes all the weight off of your poor body. I just had a baby a month ago so I know how you feel.

Your doctor should be able to guide you better than we can. For me personally, I was able to continue exercising as long as I was comfortable... jogging, exercise bike, walking, light dumbbells... as long as I kept my heart rate within an acceptable range (as established by my doctor) I was a-ok. My nutritional needs were also addressed through my doctor... so that's your best bet for answering your questions! Happy & healthy 9 months!

LOL that's great. I'm sure if/when I have kids I'll be thinking the same. Not sure what to recommend, but had to comment on the awesome plans! All the best with your pregnancy and journey to better health! :)

I don't know anything about this myself but I've seen like "groups" or whatever you'd like to call them on the threads on MFP...Just do a search search under the Forums/Message Boards and go through them I'm pretty sure they have support groups of here of pregnant women that can help you. And as always best advice is just talk to your doctor as well. Wish you the best.

Are you already active? if you are the general consensus is you can continue with your regime as long as theres no complications with baby. If you're not already in an exercise plan then you are best sticking to gentle exercise like walking & swimming.
As for food eat plenty of leafy green veg they are full of folates i.e folic acid which is really important for babies development & all the vitamins will do you good too. I would suggest to get plenty of fresh unprocessed food in you so that your body can get all the vitamins & minerals it's going to need to keep you & baby healthy. Plenty of lean protien too would be a great idea, esp pulses as they have loads of other beneficial vitamins too. I'm not sure exactly what calorie allowance you would need, i'm sure it would change depending of which stage you were at. I wold talk to your Dr about that just be be on the safe side, but i really don't think you can go wrong with a rainbow of foods on yor plate & gentle exercise

I'm not genetically qualified to state matters of fact or fiction in this field. Avoid the Venus fly traps on Mars and the Starburst Berries and Cream Leprechaun on Uranus when jumping Jupiter.

Here they recommend a folic acid supplement, so I had multi vitamins especially for pregnant mums which included it.

Expect to be super tired for a bit, and then go back to more like normal... Unless you get morning sickness. I did and I had to eat constantly to keep any food down  Get some ginger and cereal bars if you do find you are queasy.

Congratulations! That's one lucky baby to be getting a mum like you, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if they did rule over a planet or two

Thanks for all the advice on taking over Jupiter and eventually the world. Plans are moving along smoothly, my minions.

Folic acid, huh? Will definitely have to look into that. Employee pharmacy is open again on Monday, so I'll have to run by there and see what preggy multivitamins they have.

The Boy and I are basically just still shocked/trying to figure out what to do. I don't see my GYN until the 14th... I find it ridiculous that they can't squeeze in a newly pregnant lady at least for a quick "Okay, chick, don't eat this, this, and this, and don't do this. See you in 2 weeks for a real visit." Pffft.

I have the feeling I'm going to be doing a lot of walking and becoming super strict with the dog on the leash so I can walk daily. Thankfully the boy will be home for 2 weeks on break from school (with occasional trips back to St. Louis for work), so... maybe he can work on that. Mwahahaha.

Hi, look up babycenter.com for lots of pregnancy do and donts, til you get into your Dr. Also, look in your area and see if you can find a prenatal water aerobics or yoga class. I teach prenatal water aerobics in my city, and its great! Its also nice to be around other ladies going through the same thing. I took it while I was pregnant, and its soooo nice to be in the water. It is recommended to exercise while pregnant, it helps with delivery and recovery after birth. Just be careful, listen to your body and ask your Dr for recommendations.

    Congrats!!

My little girl is 3months so everything is still fresh in my mind. Many doctors will tell you different things but this is what mine told me:
Walk as much as you can handle, pilates and yoga are FANTASTIC while pregnant, try to beat the sleepiness in the beginning because it'll make you lazy when it's gone (personal experience :x). Don't eat lunchmeat, hotdogs (unless VERY hot), shellfish, I was told I could have a can of tuna a week (mercury issue, apparently) but I opted for canned chicken. Dont think that you have to eat for two, you only really need a few hundred extra calories. Don't stress if you have bad "morning" sickness, eat what you can, the baby will take what it needs from you, anyway.
In my opinion, it's easier to get active in the beginning of the pregnancy than it is in the middle or definitely towards the end when you're freaking about the weight gain (another personal experience).
    Good luck and congratulations!!
