Tomorrow, I will have been logging into MFP for 21-days, and I'm ~8% of the way to my initial weight loss goal, which is right in line with MFP's projections  I'm taking this as a sign that I've entered my setup data correctly and am doing mostly OK with following intake limitations. (My workday lunches remain fully unresolved!)

With the old saying about "taking 21 repetitions to form a new habit", I'm certainly hoping that all this will become a habit for me.

As long as I'm writing, I'd like to extend a thank you to "all that have gone before" and shared some of their experiences and tips here.

If you're looking for an online friend here, I'm not certain how good of a friend I'd be, since I'm quite new and kinda feeling my way along, but, if I can help, I will.

How are you all doing with your logging and trending toward goal?

Wow, ^^that^^ post was a while ago... 120-days or so; I've missed a few days of logging since (always made my food-log entries, but I've not been able to get good network connections every day)

As a recap of how this is going, I've:
    • been an MFP user for 137-days (just under 20 weeks)
    • logged my intake religiously
    • lost 40.2-lbs, which is still dead-on the 2-lbs per week loss that I'd originally set into the MFP app.
    • made it about 64% of the way toward the goal weigh that I initially set
    • adjusted my macros (increased protein & reduced fat & carbs) after recalculating caloric needs for my new body weight every 10lbs or so
    • been able to clean-up my eating significantly (with a lot further to go)

Looking back, this has been quite a change, but there's more to come.

As I mentioned above, "if I can help, I will"; just lemme know.

Well, now I'm 278-days into this:
    • Prolly not logging as well as I have, but still keeping up OK
    • I'm currently 81% of my way to my original goal
    • I'm down 51+ lbs which is closer to 1.5lbs/week overall (had a recent stall)
    • My stall was NOT a plateau, just me neglecting to adjust my caloric requirements for my lighter body and my aforementioned loss of intake logging discipline (little things add up)
    • I've not exercised much along the way, so I'm still over-fat ( >110lbs of fat initially; now ~70lbs), which will be my next focus area

These last 10lbs have seen more "body-shape" changes than I had noticed in the previous 40lbs.

Lemme know if I can help

You are doing fantastic. I love that you've updated every few months and been real about your stall and adjustments. Good on you!

Great job! Keep it up and achieve, looks like you are doing everything right. I'd check that TDEE every 10 lbs into the last few pounds. You must be feeling pretty awesome these days! I'm down to my last 15-20 from 270 down to 215 finally. Took me a lot longer since I wasn't measuring my calories the right way until the last couple of months. Now it's on.

Well, today seems appropriate for a retrospective (it's been a while, but what's 2-years on the Intarwebz?):

After this long I should be down to my original birth-weight, right? Oh, not so.

Since my last update here I did a little recomp thing (link is to one of @usmcmp 's great threads here on MFP) -- I was down that 51lbs, but felt/looked flabby and unnecessarily weakened. Basically I switched-up my macros and started lifting with some purpose. I think I did OK with the recomp, but it was a solid 15-months before I felt more comfortable (not so terrible, if I do say so myself):

What about the last 10 months? Yeah, well... er... Um... Yeah, I've been slacking, and added a few pounds (net gain +14). It seemed like each 2-month interval I'd see a new peak. It's embarrassing, and I'm less than delighted:

I could blame this all on life events (2 employment changes, etc.), but it's still my life & my events; I'll handle this. For now, I'll work on getting into a solid routine and working through this all one step at a time. The "after" side of that recomp photo above is about 5 - 10 lbs heavier than I'd like to be for the next decade or so, and in that same kinda shape.

Hopefully, I'll update before the decade is out. Lemme know if I can help you along your path.
