is the last fat to go on, the first to come off?

title says it all, I'm wondering if people find it's always the same areas they gain then lose fat on.

In my case it did. I was at my heaviest and for the first time in my life I gained in my arms. I was having a hard time finding shirts that fit right, so I was glad when that went first. My stomach has gone down a lot but seems to be the last place I'm losing. When I am happy with my stomach I will be at goal!

I doubt it. You lose fat from all over - not from certain bits at a time I believe.

Same here. My upper body as far as arms, rib cage, chest, and neck are all way leaner. My legs are lean and muscular from all the biking, walking, and elliptical I've been doing. My stomach....that's another story. It's way smaller than it was when I started, but still the same shape. I still have a spare tire and a lot of belly fat. I have about 20 lbs. to go to hit my goal weight, and I imagine at least 15 of that is in my belly.

I never gave it much notice, but my face is always the last thing to fill in when I've gained weight, and definitely the first place it comes off.

Me too! I wish my face would be fuller when I lose! Its even pretty thin when I am heavy.

I've always heard you lost weight at the ends of your body first and the middle sections are usually the last to go. I have no idea how true that is but I'm sure it depends on the person and the types of workouts they do

Genetics, I'd say, controls where things go to and come from. THAT BEING SAID, the last time I myself was under ~145 was when really noticed losing cup size. So when I put on a little weight after that, cup size was the first thing I NOTICED getting bigger. Whether I was gaining elsewhere and not really noticing at that point...?

It sure seems like it to me, but I think that may have to do with where fat is most noticeable. I feel like my midsection hasn't lost anything and that my thighs have, for example, but my measurements show loss all around: 1/2 inch off each thigh and two inches off my waist (other areas also show evidence of shrinking when I measure). Just looking in the mirror, though, I'd swear the most weight had come off my thighs and that my midsection wasn't budging.

So my answer is no, but if I weren't measuring, I'd probably be tempted to say yes.

I'd love to have a thin face! No matter how lean I get, my chipmunk cheeks remain! :open_mouth:

your primary fat stores are generally going to be the first on and last off. for most men, for example, that would be the gut...the belly is primary fat stores for most men which is why we can be pretty damned lean and still not have a six pack...I'm around 12% and close, but there's still a layer of fat over my belly...you can barely pinch anything anywhere else.

My face shows the most noticeable gains and losses

For me, yes. Looking back, I definitely gained weight in my midsection (gut) first and arms/legs last. I now have arms/legs that are a good size but still carry a lot of fat in my midsection. I've never had the typically feminine female fat distribution on my thighs/hips/butt. Those areas also lose fat/size quickly when I cut.

For me, yes. Added bonus, my stomach fat seems to be the last to go, so I look very disproportioned.
