My Arms!!!

I had a nice moment yesterday at the gym, another small NSV. I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror at the end of the treadmill row, something I usually try to avoid doing. I saw some actual definition in my upper arms. Not a lot, they certainly are still far from slim or toned. But, it was there. A definite line and they seemed a bit more toned than before. I was so pumped that I bought a 10lb kettle bell for my Tank Top Arms Workout CD. I had been using 5 lb weights because I didn't want to spend the money for something new. If I can make that much difference with 5lb weights in a few weeks, I can only dream of how my arms will look after stepping up to 10lbs. Watch out tank tops - here I come!

It always surprises me how willing our bodies are to rise to the challenge we set for them. It creates this lovely positive feedback loop. You work out your arms, your arms oblige to look more toned, you want to work out some more, get even more toned, etc. Hurrah for those victories. Good for you. Soon even the bad boys do not want to mess with you anymore as they see you coming with those arms:)
  • Thats great Terri! I know the feeling well lol. We need these things to help keep us going :)

    Great job!

Yes, I have been working out for over 3 months now, too. I am noticing my arms having some muscle definition, too underneath the extra fat, that is! I pyramid my weights and am working on stepping up my dumbbells to 10 pounds for the heaviest, too.....soon. I am still getting myself ready for the switch. THe last thing I want to do is get hurt! But I think when I switch I will really see the results, then, too!

Ohhhhh... that's what I need! Are you using a dvd?? I need so much work on the flabby, underside. My shoulders & biceps are strong, but need to do something for the underside. I'm in a wedding in Oct, and of course, it's sleeveless... ew.

I love reading these little things that really get people motivated to move on. You may want to check into one of those kettlebells that allows you to vary the weight, so that you aren't purchasing new ones all the time. It may be a little more expensive at first, but would save you in the long run and allow you to increase faster. I'm not suggesting this one exactly, just providing a link for an example:

That sounds like a great idea. I hope to be able to move up someday. Thanks for the tip!
