Are you a germaphobe?
Not me. I'm one of those people who only washes hands when I need to eat.
I know for a fact that my immunity level is very high due to not shying away from germs. 4.5 years of not missing any work days due to illness and haven't been sick either. Sure I have down days, but it's usually due to lack of rest, unfulfilled nutritional needs, allergies or a cold.
How about you?

Yes I am!! However I've been in education since 2001 so I have a strong immunity. Daily exposure to funk has certainly built up my immunity. I still freak out though!0

Regrettably, not as much as I should be. Shocking, since I barely survived MRSA and become violently ill after a live vaccine.

Not at all...which is probably a good thing with three little boys (well two little and one who is bigger than me). I always am baffled by the moms who chase their kids around with hand sanitizer. Obviously I want my kids to wash after using the toilet, and clean off any visible dirt before eating, but I am far from obsessed. What doesn't kill us makes us stronger, right? When my kids were younger and would pick something off the ground and put it in their mouths, "builds immunity" was practically my mantra. We are seldom sick in my house.0

That's how it is in my home too. I grew up with the "5 second" rule and even when around sick kids, I hardly got sick at all. Now my DD is experiencing the same. For 4 years in a row now, she's had perfect attendance in school and has maybe been sick once. Not at all...which is probably a good thing with three little boys (well two little and one who is bigger than me). Nope. My mom proudly showed off a picture of me eating dirt. I was three.
Hubby is a tetch OCD, washing his hands frequently, gargling with Listerine, and so on. He's the one who suffered from cold sores.
I saw a drop in illness when I started getting the flu shot every year, and when I doubled my dose of vitamin D.0 -

Only when it comes to public bathrooms. I hate them, despise them, want to burn them down. It could be the cleanest public bathroom but I still feel I'm in a porta-potty0

I work in a hospital so I'm a big fan of infection control but I'm not a germaphobe. I'm rarely sick - hospital grade immunity here! Plus I wash my hands constantly at work.0

Is this a legitimate question or a brag about you not being a germophobe?? Seems like a really odd way to ask a question.

Maybe it's good genes and not the fact that you're smarter than germophobes??0 -
Yes, I work in a lab lol0

I might have some germaphobe tendencies but not my kids. Obviously washing hands before eating and after going to the bathroom is a must but the rest of the time I really leave it up to their judgment.0

Exposure to germs, viruses, etc. help to build immunity. That's not debated. Germaphobes have a tendency to "over clean" and thereby reduce the chance to build immunity. Someone who has children that always get sick after an outing, should wonder how much they may be cleaning at home since the best time to build immunity is as a growing child into adulthood. Over cleaning their homes reduce the chance to exposure.sunglasses_and_ocean_waves wrote: »

There's a difference between overly cleaning and being a pig. Clean your houses and your kids and yourself!! Just lay off the antibacterial soaps and bleach bombs is how I took his post.0
