does the sweating ever lessen?

It seems like I have produced a ton of sweat for all occasions ever since I've been heavy. Realizing that I'm 250+, this is to be expected right? But my question is does this ever... stop? Or lessen? I don't want to be 150 lbs and still feeling and looking gross when going for walks and hanging out with friends!

Even when I was 135 I used to sweat like a *kitten* in church. I think it's genetic. I'm by far the sweatiest chick at my gym.0

It really does - take my word for it! At 220 - 230 I sweated all the time (mostly on my face rather than underarms). Now, at 161, I still get a 'sheen' if it's really hot out (for Britain!) but no actual sweating unless I'm exercising hard. I am cold all the time now as well - go figure!0

haha me too!!! i managed to sweat through 2 sports bras (i have huge hooters lol) and a tank top today... secretly though, i kinda like sweating at the gym... it makes me feel better. i don't walk out looking like i didn't work hard lol0 -
I honestly don't think sweat volume is weight-related--except to the extent that everything requires more exertion when you're heavier. So I guess YES, things like just walking get easier and so less sweaty, but I sweat buckets in every workout.0

I love sweating too! Makes me feel like I've accomplished something0 -
Yep, what she said. I'm a sweater. I can walk from my house to my car to go to work at 8:00 am and have a glean of sweat already popping out on my forehead. Some people sweat more than others no matter how much they way. Unfortunately, it's quite possible you might be one of them. I know I am.Even when I was 135 I used to sweat like a *kitten* in church. sometimes sweating a lot can be caused by improper nervous system training. i.e., you are getting too psyched up in your workouts, and are actually tricking your mind into pumping out some adrenaline and cortisols, which create more sweat!
Mix up your work outs with soothing and calming exercises. Every other day or every third day should be a meditative and calming workout, sans caffinee and sans the rock music! (it takes about 2 days for one cup of coffee's caffinee to be eliminated from the body, thus your nerves are strung out).
In about 6 weeks you should be able to retrain your parasympathetic nervous system to stop causing you to sweat so much!
best wishes!0 -
I'm down almost 20 and still sweating just as much ) Ithink i'm the sweatiest chick at my gym too!0

Some of us sweat like mad no matter our size. i have always been super sweaty, even looking outside sometimes.....
but, if i weigh less, i wont feel so bad if im a mess.0 -
Unfortunately I think you will still sweat a lot - but it might lessen! I have always been a sweater too. But at least we are getting out the toxins and you can tell we've been working out!0

I think it's genetics teamed with weight. At the gym, my skinny sister sweats "like a *kitten*" (lol, are *kitten* sweaty? Never thought about it.) Where I sweat, but it doesn't show through shirts or anything.
However, the day to day stuff. She tells me she never gets sweaty under the boobs or in the bend of the elbow if she's not working out.0 -

Agreed! :happy:0 -
I sweat buckets. But then again, so does the 6'1" 130 lb woman on the next bike (she's a marathon runner). Also, the 160 lb guy on the other bike is melting too. It's just how the body cools itself.0

I take my sweat as a badge of honor when working out. If I don't leave with a sweat necklace I did not push myself hard enough.0

Count me in! Regardless of how much fluid I drink or not. I am a Hot Mess in my zuba class. But the instrutors love it. They are actually have a contest going to see who can make me the sweatiest. Sometimes it bugs me but other times Im like ah Hell it was a good work out I deserved it. Something must be working. Im losing weight YAY!0 -
when I weighed 156 I sweat less than what I do now at 135...
I sweat A LOT. love it tho0 -
I have been a yoyo dieter most of my life. So I have been fat and thin. When I was thinner, the sweat problem went away. Also, the heavier I am, the more I sweat and the longer it takes me to cool down once I work up a sweat.0

Haha, no, it doesn't. Not for me, at least. But like a bunch of people already said: doesn't it make you feel way more accomplished after a workout? It's like you can physically see how hard you worked, lol. But I've also heard from other people that they started feeling cold all the time as they lost weight, so don't get discouraged!0

I sweat buckets too ("like a *kitten* in church"! Love it!!) But what I find more embarrassing is how red my face goes - I know blushing is meant to be good for you, but seriously, I end up looking like the reddest tomato ever I don't think that will ever lessen!0

The sweating during a workout I can totally handle, it's the sweating while just trying on shoes that I can't stand! Bleh! Everyday simple activities make my brow moist, causing my hair to stick and ...it's embarrassing0

I have the same issue. It seems to have gotten better once I started heavy cardio training, but it still happens a lot.0 -
I can still sweat major buckets when I work out. I'm the girl whose forearms and shins sweat when I get a really good workout in BUT being down 80+ lbs I no longer sweat on the walk to drop my kids off at school or while getting ready. The weight loss has made a big difference in sweating during everyday activities.0

Another sweater *kitten* here too, haha! I think mine is a combo of going thru pre-menopause and just whatever genetics I suppose. I can't be outside in hot weather for more than 5 minutes to start having beads of sweat on my face and back, gross. I hate it!! I don't mind in the gym when working out, but damn....when I'm out and about and not doing anything more strenuous thank just walking?? WTH.
Actually, the other day at the gym, I forgot my towel and I was on the one bike that doesn't have a fan on it...OMG. After I was done, I looked like someone had poured a bucket of water on me. It was gross and a good feeling at the same time, lol.0 -
I love a good sweat as well. I love the stoke and the glow of working myself so hard that I am all sweaty. I caveat that with the fact that I am a deoderant (sp?) and body spray demon. I may sweat but I smell like coconut..lol0

I sweat like a bull hog -- and I agree as a heavy girl its embarrasing. There are times I cannot take the stairs because I dont wanna be a puddle when I get there (and I have to dress up at work).
I dont mind sweating during my workout -- although I was the only person during the race who was pouring water over my head!
I did notice that by mile 1 I had worked up a good sweat and the people around me... not so much!
I just hope the sweating decreases slightly0 -
It depends on whether you were ever a person who sweats or not. I didn't sweat much when I was smaller, but I'm in menopause now and get hot flashes so I expect there will be time when I will sweat no matter what size I am.0
-
Some of it is genetic, but when I was 200 pounds I would sweat so much more than I do now. Don't get me wrong, I still sweat, and some days are worse than others, but it's not near as bad. I've also found that using certain dri at night and/or also putting on deodorant at night (before bed) helps...something about your body being able to absorb it better.0

Horses sweat. Men perspire. Women merely glisten.
And I'm a horse.
