Running after effects

Hey all. I am new to this whole running thing, at least as a regular activity. And today after my morning run (3 miles) my hands began to tingle and did for a few hours. I was never in any pain, had no shortness of breath and my heart rate returned to normal following the run. Any ideas?

Mine swell up after my run...not always. ..I think it's to with sodium intake.....it only lasts about an hour then the swelling goes down ☺

Thanks. Glad it isn't only me. Drinking a mixture of water and Gatorade seemed to help.

Mine swell a lot too when I run. I've started to run without my wedding rings on too because it gets so uncomfortable.

Do you suffer from unusually cold hands when the temperature drops? If so, it could be a circulation thing.

PS: Assuming you don't suffer from electrolyte issues already, a 3 mile run ought not cause the need for electrolyte replacement unless you are on some very low sodium doctor ordered diet.

My longer runs are 25-34km (15-21 miles) and I don't do electrolyte replacement. Food replacement, yes. :)

I have the same problem and it seems to be exacerbated by heat; the warmer it is, the worse my hands bother me during the run. I also notice it during long hikes when it's warm. It doesn't usually seem to set in until somewhere after mile 3, though. It usually goes away on its own after 30-60 minutes; I don't do anything special.

My sister has Reynaud's syndrome and because of this problem I think I may have it, as well.

Thanks all for giving me some feedback. I am thinking I was experiencing some dehydration because this week was significantly warmer than the past couple weeks and I don't think I took that into account when gearing up. I've been intentional about hydration the rest of the week and I haven't had any problems.

I have not noticed swelling hands after running; but, before I got my weekly mileage above 25 miles, every time that I would walk more than a couple of miles at a respectable pace (15:30/mi - 14:00/mi) my hands would swell and tingle for about an hour afterward. Now, my hands, very infrequently, will swell, still. I haven't been concerned about it, as it seems transient and has an identifiable cause (actually, precursor to the swelling).
