i weigh myself daily when I wake up. I've noticed that every other day I loose one to two pounds and on opposite days I gain a pound. Anyone else have this problem?

It's not really a problem - everyone fluctuates, that's how the body works. It's perfectly normal. Maybe a bit abnormal if you always have the exact same pattern, but fluctuations themselves are normal.

It's totally normal for your weight to go up and down. Could be water weight! But I wouldn't worry about it since it's just a couple pounds. :)

    Weight loss is not linear.
Loose (set free) all the calories / pounds you need to get to a healthy weight.

Realize that drinking a bottle of water gains you a pound, using the bathroom probably loses a pound.
A brisk walk in the heat, or shoveling the driveway, can lose a couple pounds. (Last winter I weighed myself before
& after doing the driveway, just for chuckles. I think I was close to 3 lb down after.)
Approaching your period, you will gain weight. After, you lose it.
Eating a high-sodium or high-carb meal will cause you to retain water. It's temporary.

As long as you are overall trending downward toward a healthy weight, don't worry.

To expand a bit on what's been said: As John Walker points out in The Hacker's Diet (specifically, the chapter on "The Rubber Bag"), every day we take in about 14 pounds, on average, of food, water, and oxygen, and we eliminate about 14 pounds, on average of solid waste, liquid waste (urine, sweat, water vapor in breath), and carbon dioxide.

Those 14 pounds balance themselves over the long run, though, not every day. However, a little mathematical analysis can produce a useful trend line from your fluctuating daily weight. You can read Walker's chapter on "Signal and Noise" to see why and learn how to do the math. Walker's site allows you to create an account and track your weight on his server, or you could use TrendWeight.com to do it for you if you have a device that can sync with it.

my weight can fluctuate 7 pounds during the day.

im sure its just normal fluctuations. i make a habit to weight first thing in the morning before i get up and moving (and drinking coffee). any other time of day, the number cant be trusted LOL

If you are weighing daily, expect fluctuations.

If you don't generally have a good relationship with the scale, I wouldn't recommend daily weighing. I stick to once a week and then put the scale away :)

Thank you for the responses. Make sense. Maybe once a week is better than every day. I just have to remind myself not to go directly to the scale when I wake up.
