No! For what reason? If it is to speed things up, know that there is no rush. Unless you have a medical reason to lose fast, try losing slowly. Or you will probably end up losing the same weight over and over again.

That's 5:2 IF (intermittent fasting) and quite a few people post about it. Eat 500 calories for 2 days of the week (not in a row) and then eat maintenance the other 5 days.

Some people like it because they only have to closely watch their intake for 2 days rather than all 7 days of the week. Some even do a less extreme version the other way around and have 5 days with a reduced calorie goal (not as low as 500 for the day but 100 or 200 below their average daily goal) so that they have extra calories left over for the 2 weekend days.

As long as your weekly calories average out to a healthy deficit, I don't see a problem with how you spread them out.

I do every other day 500 calorie fasting sometimes. The point? To eat at maintenance on non-fasting days. It's a great way to have a feel for what food is like during maintenance and practice it before you reach your goal. This way you won't have that initial shock and possibly eventually go back to your old habits after you've reached your goal weight because you've had time to turn it into an almost natural habit. No guarantees I won't gain back, but I like to give myself the best chances possible. Plus side: you get to eat more of the things you love on those days so it doesn't feel like a diet.

Well overall I have lost 4st since last Christmas. I do it to help shift the last stone I want to lose. Some people rave about it some don't. e4m11stlyegp.jpg

Great job on your loss! However, shifting the last stone is all about calories. It doesn't matter if you spread out the deficit equally or have a heavier deficit on certain days. As you are getting to the last few pounds, weight loss slows down. It's normal and even desirable to spend 4-5 months or so on the last 10 pounds to prevent your diet eating too much into your muscles.
