So, I eat Subway quite a bit. My question is does the nutritional values include the bread, or do I need to include that?

    Visit their website: http://www.subway.com/nutrition/nutritionlist.aspx

The footnote says: Sandwich nutrition values include 9-Grain Wheat bread, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, green peppers and cucumbers.

So it does not include mayo, mustard, or any additional condiments and toppings.

When I used to go there, I noticed that a basic footlong sub is about 800 calories, and the bread for a footlong sub is about 500 calories alone.

Thanks. I guess I meant in terms of adding food to my diary here. To make sure I'm as accurate as possible, how should I go about adding it?

Spot check the information on the Subway website with the entries in MFP to see if they are accurate.

There is no easy way to do this since you can customize a sub a hundred different ways. You can enter a basic sub (e.g. turkey, swiss, lettuce, and tomato on 9-grain bread) and then add any condiments and additional toppings separately.

I always find subway difficult. Some people have added entries for their sandwich they typically order. Technically, the most accurate way to log would be to log the base sandwich (as mentioned, it has the bread, tomatoes, etc on it), and then add any additional toppings or condiments separately. So, if you have cheese, add "subway - american cheese" or whatever. I'm actually too lazy, so I do a quick calculation in my head of what my toppings will add, and then pick an entry that is close and is at least as many calories as my calculation.

Find a way that works for you; you can be completely accurate, or you may find that a shortcut can keep you sane while logging. If I find that I have problems losing, I'll have to get more accurate, but for now, it's working for me.

Yeah, that's what I did. Doing the math from the site, and here, the one I chose was off by 10 calories. But I left it to account for things I may have forgotten.

I eat at Subway from time to time and I found most (not all, but most) database entries in MFP with green "Checked" mark are correct.

If you check the Subway nutrition site, you will easily find what's included with each sandwich - which bread and condiments - but some sort of bread is always included.

i use the subway checked entries in the database and add in the condiments like mayo, honey mustard, etc

i dont worry about the veggies as they dont have uch in and of themselves, but if i know i will be having a 'tight' calorie day, ill estimate them with a quick add or something
