hi guys, I need some help! I find I can do one week sticking to my calorie goal and I loose 3-4lbs and feel great but then I fall off the wagon and totally loose it, put the weight loss back on and feel useless! Why can I not get passed 1 week? Anyone else had that?

If you eat too little, which you do if you lose 3-4 pounds in one week, you will not be able to keep it up for the time it takes to lose any substantial amount of weight. You will be hungry, and eat, and that is good!
Would you feel useless if you can't hold your breath for more than one minute?0 -
I eat the recommended calories a day that mfp set for me?! In the week I stick to it I never feel hungry and don't feel I struggle, comes to Friday and I feel I have a given right to have a takeaway even if I don't really fancy it then bam, there goes the weight loss and good eating!
No, I don't suppose I would lol that's a good way to look at it...thank you0 -
Which calorie goal is that? 1200 is the minimum allowance recomended for women, aiming for maximum speed of weight loss. If you up your calories just a little, you'll still lose weight, but have more wiggle room. And you should eat food you like every day. If you don't, you'll suddenly feel that you need something extra, lose control, and that can derail your progress.0

That might help lol they set 1220 for me to loose 2lbs a week. That makes a lot of sense, I will try and find low calorie treats I can have daily and hope that stops the urge to binge come the weekends thank you0

Based on your ticker it says 41lbs to lose, so you cnat get beyond 7-10% loss and then you quit.
People who quit that early are normally:
1. Too aggressive i.e enthusiastic and they just burn out. Too aggressive in terms of tryin g to lose too quickly too fast. Maybe just go for 1lb a week. 3-4lbs isnt really healthy and its not sustainable for you. 1-2lbs is more normal. Sustainable and consistent is what you are after.
2. Unrealistic expectations. You expect too much too soon, get frustrated and quit. Unrealisticc becayse you dont accept that 1-2lbs is normal weight loss. 41lbs for 41 weeks, its a marathion not a sprint.
3. Lack of preparation. You dont have a plan, arent organised enough and when you hit a rough spot you quit.
4. Lack of commitment. You arent prepared to do what it takes to lose the weight, commitment gives you the needed energy that you wnat the result badly enough and are prepared to stick it through. That mans from beginning to end.
5. Lack of patience or mental attitude to deal with setbacks. Sometimes weight loss is slow, soemtimes you are going to hit setbacks and it can be dull. The key is to be prepared and not let it put you off but to keep going , even if you have a few bad days.
Master all the above and things will be easier for you.0 -
Thank you tigger, they all sound familiar...I will work on it. I am too quick to feel like failure, that has always been my issue in all that I do so I really need to break that, weight loss does not happen over night and I know that! Need to change a few of my own thoughts and attitude I think...0
