Packing a Lunch

What are some good things to pack for a lunch while at work? I don't have a fridge or a microwave, and I want to avoid sandwiches. Suggestions?

I like making my own lunchables. Whole wheat crackers, sliced cheese, and some Turkey Pepperoni with some baby carrots or an apple!
Why avoid sandwiches?

You'd probably have to pack snacks: tuna, sardines, crackers, granola bars, nuts, individual size bags of chips, whole fruit, peanut butter, etc.0

Salad, including grain salads like tabbouleh or couscous or potato salad. Wraps - if you don't want to use bread, then use greens. Store them all in an insulated lunch box with an ice pack.
Hot food in a thermos - soup, stew, chili, etc.0 -
Rotisserie chicken, leftover or preshredded by store. With an ice pack you don't really need a frig.0

during my sons basketball season (i do most of the game photography for the league) im there all day. i DO have access to the kitchens but dont leave my food in there LOL I generally take a mason jar salad (i make different kinds), babybell cheese, and some sort of snack (which often is stolen by little ones looking at me with sad eyes LOLOL), etc. during the season im there from 8am to 6 pm so its an all day, constantly moving and running back and forth day.

I have a few of those lunch bags you store in the freezer when not in use. Then you take it out in the morning, pack your lunch in it and it keeps your lunch chilled all day. Really eliminates the need for a refrigerator.
Salads
Tuna, ham, turkey, imitation crab, shrimp - whatever protein you like
cheese stick
crackers
fruit
veggies
hummus
boiled eggs
Apples w/nut butter
leftover pizza (make it yourself if you want to keep the calories down)
nuts
my co-worker keeps eating these single serving packages of olives (I hate black olives)

For the left over pizza I usually make these individual sized pizzas using pita bread instead of dough, is that better than dough or?0 -
Check out JustBento.com for some great lunch ideas! So easy to make and take. I use a blue ice pack to keep it cool.
Another idea is a crockpot lunch pot 19.oo at walmart. keeps food warm at work and no smell if you have an electrical outlet0 -

You can eat a burger or rolled up slice of meat from your hand. It tastes better than encasing it in bread. Hard boiled eggs. Cut up cheese. Vegetables. Eat a pepper/tomato/carrot like an apple. Fruit. I avoid carbs because of my diabetes.0

I prepare my SOs lunch and my own the night before work. I own a bento box for myself and use tubaware for his. He's a manly man (lol) and needs plenty of food to get through his 12 hour work day so I make sure there is enough of everything he likes to prevent him from going hungry or needing to drive to the gas station for sweets. Today his lunch was:
- A grilled chicken thigh on top of a handful of baby leaf spinach
- A small silicone cup of crunchy peanut butter
- A sliced gala apple (to go with the peanut butter)
- A small slice of cake
- Pita bread crackers
And then he takes a P2 (These little snack boxes from the deli meat aisle that have nuts and cheese) for an evening snack and granola bites for morning snack.
Typically I do a hard boiled egg, fresh spinach at the bottom of the bowl, a protein...etc. Doing it bento style will really help improve the quality of your lunch!0 -

I mean- I eat cold cuts solo all the time- but a burger? I mean yeah I'll do it- but it doesn't taste BETTER than with no bun- that's just sacrilege!0 -
Egg salad, tuna salad, chicken salad, turkey salad, green leafy salad, hummus or pb with veggie sticks or crackers.
If you invest in a good thermos - soup, chili, stew, casseroles and leftovers.0 -
Canned meat; tuna, chicken, beef (the kind that is non-refrigerated). I mix any of those with a can of Rotel or MexiCorn. Peanut butter with veggies, Protein Bars, whole fruit, string cheese.0
