It ain't what it used to be. Back in the time I was growing up, this would be scoffed at. However, I didn't think of it from the girls' point of view either. I think assault is a bit harsh, but I do think that the behavior can't be ignored.

Thoughts?

IMO, it's asinine. This is the stuff kids do that should be a situation the parents/school use to teach them. Make him hear why she's upset and let the parents/school determine suitable punishment. Unless there is some prior trauma in this girls life, there is no reason that a kiss should be such a victimizing action. But now, with her parents turning it into something they want prosecuted, their daughter will take cues from them and turn it into something bigger than it is. That's a horrible lesson for her to learn.

This happened to me in middle school. My parents response was "if it happens again, sock him a good one and if you get in trouble for that, we'll support you".

IMO, if it had been my daughter, I'd first consult with the principal, parent of the child and have the kids there too. I'm sure that the boy considered it a harmless act, but just getting everyone to discuss it cordially would be a better solution. We did dumb things as kids, and I don't think assault should be plastered on this kids background. Now if he does it again.............then it should be up to the parents of the offendee.

As of tomorrow I will have a 15 year old daughter and that's how I would handle it if it happened to her.

When I was in middle school, a boy snapped my bra strap so I turned around and smacked him. Problem solved.

I could understand if this was her first kiss for her to get a little upset. Not for formal charges to be brought against the boy. That is taking it way too far. In school suspension at most. Or more like 2 days of detention would be appropriate.

I've had several good looking lady friends that have said that they would love it if some random guy were to come up to them and just plant a good kiss on them. But then this happens and I come to my senses.

I promise not to file charges.

If you're implying @Non_Stop can get away with things because he's attractive, just stop. His ego doesn't need any help.

Boys 'accidentally' on purpose touch girls boobs and whatnot at that age and most girls stand up and get them into trouble, as in my experience at that age, but the police were never involved. That's a bit over the top.
