Exercise. Even when you don't feel like it (or especially when), go for a walk or run a mile or ride an exercise bike. Activity increases endorphin levels and elevates your mood. Depression is real and difficult to beat (trust that I know this all too well), but activity helps. Even if it's not specifically "exercise," doing something will make you feel better or at least distract you from feeling bad. Start a garden, paint something, get out of the house, meet a friend to go window-shopping... just something to get yourself moving and focused on something that isn't your weight and your sadness. You have to recommit every day, and it sounds hard because it is. But I'm willing to bet that if your minimum healthy weight is 115, 138 doesn't put you terribly far from normal. Maybe weight training is a good option for you.

First of all, try and get this into perspective - this isn't something to be so destroyed over. I understand the struggle with weight and I know how frustrating and crushing it can feel, but ask yourself this - is it really worth it? Does your weight gain stop you being the person you are? Does your weight gain stop people from loving and caring about you? Does your weight gain stop your body from functioning as it should? Does your weight gain make you abnormal? The answer to every one of those questions is a big resounding NO!

If you choose to lose a few pounds - eat a healthy and sensible deficit and add in some exercise to boost your confidence (I think that's a huge factor here..). But please remember, it isn't the be all and end all. You'll be fine. Breathe :]

I agree with @amlc1230 -- you should do some activity to help alleviate your depression. Also, make sure you are eating healthy, low processed foods and watch your sugar intake. Recent studies show that sugar can increase feelings of depression and anxiety. I know, because I suffer from sugar-induced depression. Too much sugar (any kind) can also make you gain weight, so even if you are within your calorie limit, if you are consuming too much sugar you may still struggle to lose weight.

Good luck on your weight loss journey. It is a difficult road for all of us.

Hey, no worries! You'll do fine. You're still in a great weight range. I'm at 180. I should be at 150 or lower to start with. I think walking or doing something is def going to help. You have to just not give up. It can always be worse. :) no let's move..also not sure how you're diet is but fast food or processed food can do negative vs fruits, veggies and lean meats..water..lots of water. We're all in this together. ;)
