Healthy Impressions

i just want to share a minor success I have noticed this evening. My 4 year old daughter ASKED ME to go on a walk tonight. And as we were walking it occurred to me that these past two nights of walking are due to her suggestions.
I am partially in this journey to weight loss in hopes of showing my daughter that healthy is ideal. That you want to get and be healthy by positive means. These include eating veggies and fruits, choosing water over soda, and being active.
I have done well by this goal. Anyone else have little buddies tagging along?

Nice! I love that my kids are proud of my work (most of the time - tween and a teen so it varies) and I'm also working on the good example side of things - not "diet" but lets eat healthily, lets exercise more.....0

Have been thinking about this a lot lately. My 8yo daughter is a natural athlete, and have been thinking about starting to do couch to 5k....I want a buddy to push me, but I also want to model a healthy lifestyle to her. I suggested it to her that we could start when the weather warms up a little more (spring has just arrived) and she is keen...I am terrified!!
Sounds like your daughter is your biggest fan and wants to be part of your success. Your success will be her success too, so yes, we need to let our little buddies tag along. And sometimes we need to let our little buddies lead us too.

My four year old little boy tries to do work out videos as I do them and it is adorable! Whenever he asks why me and daddy go to the gym, run, or work out in the basement we always stress that we are doing so to be healthy, build muscles, and make sure our hearts and bones stay strong. We avoid fat shaming of ourselves in an effort to instill a healthy body image in him. I do struggle with answering his questions as to why I am not eating the special treats, like ice cream, that he gets however. I don't want to say that it is "bad" or "unhealthy" so I just typically say that I am not hungry and he seems ok with that answer!0
