Time to begin again

Hi, time to get back on the horse and start again. My doctor started my on diabetic medication last month when my A1C levels came back at 7.5 for the first time. I have been bordering but under 7 for 2 years so never have been on meds before. I gained so much weight the past 3 years even with my roller coaster dieting of my life. I really need to get some control. I am 42 and have 2 kids at home. I've tried every diet I can think of that I know. Hopefully it's all downhill from here.

Forget 'diets'. They don't work
Take it from someone that has probably tried everything advertised and failed time and time again.. They aren't realistic. What IS realistic, is a calorie deficit - that's all you need. Eat whatever you want but remain under your allowance and you WILL lose weight. It's as simple as that and I promise you, it works. MFP has really taught me to forget 'dieting' and focus on living a better life. I promise you can do it. Good luck.0 -
I have 5 kids and I'm 41. I was able to lose 110 lbs for them! Add me and I'll cheer you on!0

I have been everything from size eight to 24. In my lifetime ,I have studied all the gimmicks and lose, but end up gaining back. Now I need to lose 70 pounds. I tried this before but didn't lose. I figured out because the peeps that document on here aren't always right on the calorie count. Example being, Oscar meyer thick slices bacon, fully cooked, said 2 slices 60 calories. The package said, 1 slice fully cooked, 70. If I ate 2 slices, that's 140,not 60. That being said, this time, I am eating what I like, but in portions and log it. No sacrifice, just controlling how much. I put down1.5 lbs a week so doing it slow. I am working 2 jobs, one of which I am active so mfp figured out what I need to eat . My new scale gives me my B.M.I.,water weight, bone and muscle weight and weight. It also gives me goals ,weight, how much I should eat to reach that goal. It may take a year, or 2 years but at least I am hoping it goes down. Good luck in what ever plan you use!0

Good luck everyone. I was on MFP before, I did lose weight I just didn't stick to it. You have to read your labels too... you can't always trust MFP even though they are pretty good in general.0
