Positive Thoughts vs. Weight Loss

I’m 5’10”, have been hovering around 218 Lbs. for 15 years. That may not seem extremely overweight to some, yet it still causes the same emotional struggles and feelings. Each of us has our own reasons for losing weight, striving for a better life style, and even not doing it. I personally was never mentally ready. What changed I do not know, but as of August 1st I have started changing the way I live and approach obstacles. Weight loss being one of them. It’s was finally time to take back control of my life.

One way for me to deal with the mental/emotional roller coaster is to continually tell myself that I am in it for the long haul. There is no quick fix. In turn this has allowed me to avoid the shame or guilt of having a “bad” day. Tomorrow I will do better, I will be triumphant. Positive Thoughts!!!! Celebrate the little victories!!!

Setting what hoped to be an achievable goal of 200 Lbs. by years end, I have dropped 10 lbs. so far by watching my calories and upping the activity level. A half marathon (walking) is planned for end of October. I hope the message of “Positive Thoughts” can help someone along their journey. Stay Strong.

That's awesome the mindset change you're making. I had a similar realization at the end of May and have dropped 33 pounds so far, with another 27 to go. It really is about changing your thinking about who you are, and integrate healthy living into your core view of yourself, and put systems in place to support that change in perception and thinking. It has been a game changer for me.

Good for you! The mental aspect is HUGE. You cannot be successful at anything until you have the proper mindset and are in it 100%. Keep it up!

    I agree with this.
I take time everyday to relax. Read a look, listen to music, relaxation video on YouTube.

  • Good for you. Keep up the good work.
