Does temp of food change the weight?

I am making a pot of chili and it made me wonder, if weighing the entire pot hot or cooled makes a difference weight wise? I usually weigh it after it cools down. Does it matter?

No. Unless there is a lot of liquid and by hot you mean hot enough for water to evaporate.0

I have made many one-pot recipes over the last two years and have weighed and recorded them hot, warm, and refrigerated cold. I have found that the change in weight from evaporation of water is about 2% from hot to cold and about 1% from warm to cold.0

A pot of chili will lose a bit of weight from the steam coming off it as it cools. Not that much though, just a few grams.0
