Everytime I do a big burn such as a 4 hour bike ride, 5k, I am up by 1 to 2 lb the next day. I log calories and stay under goal by 300 to 500 calories, but still gain. Is this common and why?

It is common after an exercise session....esp a hard one. The muscles tend to hold water in them. Keep drinking lots of water to keep flushed out. Its what works for me.

Day after water retention is normL

I weigh 4 pounds more than at the beginning of my 3 day lifting cycle. It will be gone in 2 days

The scale can be hard to understand sometimes in the correct context

    Totally normal.
Soreness = water retention and if you are fuelling your rides properly may also be an element of the extra weight of food still in your GI tract.

That's part of the reason people are advised to have a goal weight range rather than a single number - to allow for your normal weight fluctuations.

One of these things is not a big burn

    But yeah. Water retention.
