Do you have to eat?

I am doing LCHF with 75%fat, 20%protein & 5%carbs. This is my 3rd week and I am not hungry, at all. I made myself eat breakfast 4 hours ago and am sitting here with 2 boiled eggs and a cup of bouillion/butter and don't want any of it.
Should I just eat it? Will I throw myself off track if I don't?

Yes. Eat. I struggle to eat my calories every single day and I often have to eat to nausea/cramps. Eat. Your body needs it.0

I eat when I am hungry. If I don't feel hungry for breakfast or lunch, I skip it. I make up for it by having more calories later when I am hungry.0

I, generally, try to stay at least above my BMR. If I'm significantly below, I'd make myself eat, but once I'm around my BMR I wouldn't force it.0

When I try to make myself eat things I don't really love, or want at the moment, then I tell myself I'm full. Then when I see something tempting, suddenly I'm hungry again.0

Being off a day here or there isn't a big deal. But this is an ongoing issue where you do not want to eat at all, it's a problem. Are you not hungry because you're not hungry or are you not hungry because the food doesn't appeal to you?0

How many calories have you averaged per day over the past three weeks?

If your body thinks it's starving it can cut off the feeling of hunger for you, so do watch out if you are on some insane very low calorie diet Not being hungry does not always mean what it feels like.0

I usually do go ahead and eat if that happens to me, because if I don't, the next day I'll eat the house down!
Maybe if you start to eat, you'll realize you're hungry. Or you could find something else to eat that you might want.0 -
I follow my hunger. It works much better for me than stuffing myself one day and being hungry another.
Watch your calorie averages for your weeks and months if hitting the same number every day isn't working for you.0 -

Thank you for the responses, I will try to answer them all. It is everyday and has been going on for about a month...... I am getting between 800-1000 calories a day and I am struggling to even do that. I fix my plate, log in my food and then find I can't eat more than half of it.... ie... today's breakfast was 2 egg muffins with 3 pieces of bacon. I ate 1 muffin and a bite from the other and about half of the bacon and I felt stuffed. That was at 8:30 and it is now almost 1:30 and I am not hungry.
I am exercising everyday,sometimes burning less than 200 cals but I thought that might help make me hungry and it hasn't. I am NOT doing this on purpose and it has been just since I started LCHF. Am thinking if it doesn't change in another week checking in with a DR.0 -

800-1000 calories per day is dangerously low for anyone of any size. Especially so for someone with weight to lose.
That said, reading your profile it appears you have (or have had in the past) some significant medical issues. I think maybe this might be a case where consulting your medical team and perhaps a registered dietician might be a good idea.

Lol. Reminds me of my high school car, and the time I got back late from a meeting and didn't have time to fill it up. My brother needed it and I warned him. Of course we both got yelled at when he ignored me and ran out of gas with no cash.0 -

I think checking in with a doctor is a good idea. It sounds like something is going on.0 -

Our macros are very similar. There are days that I am not real hungry and other days I am real hungry but normally eat 2600 - 3000 calories a day.
I agree a visit to the doctor sounds like a good idea.
Healthy people will not undereat the way you report for a month. LCHF does not take away one's need to eat. After a couple weeks on LCHF about a year ago my carb cravings stopped and have not returned.

Do you weigh every single food item you eat? How much water do you drink?
Perhaps your body is getting used to the amount of protein and fat.

So, first, please do check in with your doc. I know you said you plan to do this, but I just needed to say it anyway.
That said...I don't know why this is the case, and I don't know if it applies to you, but it isn't that unusual for people to struggle to regain a normal appetite once they actually start working on weight loss and fitness. It's ironic because none of us got here by eating too little! But for whatever reason, some of us become not very interested in eating after just a few weeks on lower calories.
I'm not talking about people recovering from eating disorders, and I'm not talking about people doing dangerously low-calorie, 'extreme' diets. I'm talking about those of us simply cutting calories and exercising more as part of a healthy weight loss plan. I experienced this for several weeks, and was so relieved to find I wasn't alone.
Some of the things that worked for me and some of the folks I've chatted with who had a similar experience included eating more frequently but in smaller amounts - basically eating many small meals a day; making sure that we planned meals/snacks to include foods that we genuinely enjoyed; double-checking macros, and experimenting with changing macros around till we found a balance that felt right for us; including protein in every meal or snack.
But not eating was not an option. Even if I just ate a few slices of apple with a teaspoon of peanut butter, I ate SOMETHING.
The "I don't care whether I eat or not" phase did eventually pass for all of us, and even though I am a total science geek, I still don't know why, so this info may not even be helpful for you.
I also see that you are following an extremely low carb eating plan. I have no personal experience with that, as I don't care for that particular way of eating, but I do know it can spark some pretty intense reactions until you settle into it. I'd suggest asking some of the folks in the Keto group here for advice. Perhaps one of them will see this thread and can reach out to you.
This was very helpful; both informative and thoughtful..thank-you. I am also new to the LCHF and am part of several groups and a faithful watcher of Butter Bob videos, lol. Perhaps as you say it is the changing of tastes, metabolism and diet in general. I do have ore energy despite not being able to eat as much.
I also like the idea of smaller/more frequent meals but am concerned that because I am insulin resistant it will stall any progress I am trying to achieve. I am going to try for more red meat and maybe tuna at each meal, see how that works.0 -

You may be right about my body adjusting to the protein and fat...I never ate much meat before and relied on carbs like bread or noodles to fill me up.0 -

My desire for carbs has also gone way down but I still fight the hunger for sweets, especially at night. I couldn't imagine that many calories, maybe I should try to up mine and see where that takes me? Being a chronic dieter all my life, limiting calories may be another "unhealthy attitude" I need to shed. I know everyone says not to count calories on LCHF but I need some kind of guide.0 -

I have never weighed my food and I suppose it may be possible I am eating more, I kind of eyeball things and then see what choices I have for amounts when I log it. I am going to be more diligent about trying different things to get the calories up without stuffing myself, thank you for the ideas.0
