Hi everyone. My name is Wan and I'm 20 years old. My current weight is 103kg (227lbs). I just installed this app and hopefully I can lose some weight. I'm on a strict diet and intense workout for my 4 months semester break. If anyone interested to join me and workout together, you're really welcome. I am also looking for anyone with similar weight to go through this journey together, so that whenever we try to sneak for a cheat meal...we have someone to remind us. Thanks a lot!

Hi Wan! :]
I hope you find MFP useful. You say you're on a strict diet and it's good your so motivated - but remember to make this sustainable and realistic so you can stick with it long-term and keep up your new healthy lifestyle! Wishing you the very best of luck!0 -
Hi Pixie,
Thanks a lot for your kind words. I really appreciate it. Now I take small portion in many intervals to get rid of the traditional 3-meals per day diet. Besides that, I also replaced my dinner with a nutritional drinks and no meal after 7pm. I do at least 2 high intense cardio in the morning and evening. Sometimes, I do swimming instead of jogging. Unfortunately, my biggest enemy now is the cheat meal and snacks where I tend to take them when I starting to crave. I take that as a failure in my battle against fat.0 -
This isn't failure - you are allowed a little of everything you enjoy, there's no harm in that - but moderation is key. I have stopped 'cheat meals' and instead adjusted my daily calorie allowance to a realistic and sustainable amount. This means I still lose weight (yes, a little slower) but I can still fit what I enjoy into my plan without going over my calorie deficit. If you stop being so unnecessarily strict on yourself, you won't feel the need to cheat and have a massive over-load.
My personal trainer suggested introducing something called a 'Re-feed' once every 2 weeks. This is one day where you don't necessarily 'track' your food and you can generally eat something quite high calorie. The idea of this is to boost your leptin levels and actually assists the weight loss process. Google 'refeed' and read up about it (There will be much better explanations than I am able to give!). If you really feel like you need a 'cheat', try a re-feed approach once every two weeks and see how you go.
Best of luck!0 -
My favorite cheat meal is instant lasagna which is available on my jogging route at 7 Eleven. It is a little bit oily with some extra cheese and chicken pieces. Although it's a cheat meal, I still pay attention to the amount of calories and try not to exceed my calorie intake. Now, I'm currently taking it once a week and I try to space it out for once in two weeks starting next week.
I read about the refeed and I think that's a very good replacement for the cheat meal. Thanks a lot for your suggestion. I never know about it previously. I also just realised about the leptin levels. I guess I need to care about that too. I'm afraid I'll give up when I'm halfway done in my journey.0 -
Hey Wan,
I'm looking to lose about 15 lbs of body fat I weight about 193 lbs right now at 15% body fat. Hoping to be at 8%. Like the idea of motivating each other and keeping away from the bad foods. Fav cheat meal is pizza.0 -
Hi
15 lbs a very realistic target. Good luck and all the best in your workout. I once read that it's totally fine to have pizza (nobody hates pizza, ahaa) for your cheat meal, but limit it to one or two slices depending on the calories.0
