Finally!! One mile is easy

I have been running off and on for a while now (about 1 year and half). I have done a half marathon (didn't run the whole time) a few 5ks and a mud run, and I could always jog it but it was still work. I have finally gotten to the point where running a mile isn't very taxing on my body anymore, I can talk while I do it and barely break a sweat. This makes me very happy and it makes me want to try for two miles now. So any newer runners out there having a hard time and feeling like it will never get any easier stick to it because it will and it will feel really good when you get to that point!! I now call myself a runner because I can't go for more than 2 or 3 days without going for a good run! YAY

I'm jealous! The first 2 miles are always awful for me!! After that I hit a rhythm - but the first two are a constant battle!! That is why I like 1/2 marathons better than 5ks - I hate the whole 5k run - whereas, I enjoy the back half the 1/2 marathon.

thats great! i also find if I run on a more regular basis the miles get easier to complete. The first 1/2 mile is always rough but then after I get my groove its good till mile 2. just keep at it and you will get used to it :)

I am a runner at heart but my legs always get discouraged before my heart is ready to give up. I am working baby steps on the treadmill and hopefully it will get easier. Your story has inspired me to keep up with it. Thanks!

Great job! I'm now pushing to do 2 miles without stopping at all. I can usually push myself to do that once a week and I know it will get easier. I remind myself that 1 mile used to feel as hard and now that's a breeze.
