are carb calories more important than calories coming from fat or protein?

say you have two foods-- one is slightly higher i calories, but those are mostly fat calories
the other one -- is lower in calories, (like 60) but higher in carbs

which is best for weight gain?is it always shoot for calories? i have enough fats and protein.

    a calorie is a calorie.

your body needs carbs, fats, and protein.

Carbs are arguably the least important macro, by far.

    You're wrong.

Your body needs protein and fat. It has other ways of getting glucose, etc. and of getting by without carbs being eaten.

I'm not saying not to eat them, I'm saying very little protein and very little fat are going to be problematic. Very little carbs, not as much, if at all.

okay, explain. protein and fat will be the most important, but carbs still play a vital role.

You are trying to gain weight, so you might want to eat foods that won't fill you up too much. So long as you have enough fat and protein it really doesn't matter -- eat whichever one seems more appealing. Try to eat a healthy diet overall.

I agree that carbs are the least important.

I would say it depends on dietary goals. I am eating low carb and high fat to improve my health (blood glucose and autoimmune issues) and eating at a caloric deficit to lose weight. For me, I would skip the carbs, eat fats and moderate protein, all at a deficit.

If you've already gotten enough protein and fat -- it looks like you probably have -- then, honestly, it's a question of whichever one you'd like to eat the most. The one that's slightly higher in calories will help more with the gain (though probably not even enough that could be measured by your scale).

I missed that sentence. Sorry.... Reverse that advice.. Eat too many carbs to put on weight. Worked for me.

If it's weight loss you're after, then for sure carbs have to be looked at. If you lower them for a bit, you can add the in here and there until you find the level where you sustain weight loss.
    Protein is pretty important.
Good fats are also important (monosaturated like olive oil and coconut oil).

Spend some quality time researching nutrition

Good is fuel for your body to functions and fuel your daily activities

If you want to run 10K or bike 50 miles you need some fuel. There is often an optimal mix to go for

If you are recovering from a hard lifting day, there is an optimal mix

If you just want to drop a pound a week and don't exercise, there may be different considerations.

If it is important, do some research and reading.

well if you're bulking, not having to get 2000 calories from fat might be helpful if you don't want to get nauseous.
