Crunchy, Salty Snacks

It has been so hard for me to give up potato chips, and I am always craving something salty and crunchy. Any ideas out there of other snacks that can kick the craving without undoing a whole day of healthy eating?

Veggie sticks - a portion size is 38 sticks and only 130 calories. They're crunchy and tasty too!0

I also like either pop chips or the pirates booty. They are the closest thing you can get to chips and each are about 130 per serving too.0

Sometimes roasted almonds satisfy my cravings for crunchy salty snacks. I also keep 100 calorie pringles on hand, those help.0

mini rice cakes. not quite the same, but a decent substitute.0

I just discovered special K cracker chips they are so good
you get 30 for 110 cal I split mine into 15 piece servings at 55 cal
this is for the sea salt version, they have other flavors0 -
I love Fit & Active Wheat Thins...yum!0

100 calorie packs are great snacks! will give you some salty and crunchy.
A friend also just introduced me to something from Special K... they are cracker chips and really good! just like chips. the serving size is much larger than chips (i believe its 30 chips) for less calories... you could check those out.0 -
Special K came out with new 'chips'...they have sea salt flavor--110 cals in 30 chips, or sour cream & onion--110 cals in 27 chips. It's a generous portion size for not many calories! And they definately help with the salty/crunchy cravings0

I have the same problem and the Special K Sea Salt Cracker/Chips are my saving grace!0 -
I eat Jolly Time 100 calorie popcorn (Kettle corn). It's wonderful!0

Almonds, veggie chips, peanuts (in shell are awesome!), and whole grain tortillas with generous fresh salsa.
I'm a major (!) crunch craver!0 -
I bought some natural microwavable pop corn - it's lightly salted and does the trick!0

Oh chips are my weakness too! I have to second those that mentioned the Speical K cracker chips and Veggie Straws!! Yum!!0

-Terra chips. I buy pre-portioned 1 oz. bags from Amazon. They're 150 cal a bag, but help the craving.
-Bake fresh kale in the oven and the texture becomes chip-like. Add some salt or seasoning. Very healthy!0 -
100 cal popcorn or Popchips if I need that fix.0

Have you ever tried baked Turkey pepperoni? Use thin sliced turkey pepperoni and put it on a baking sheet at a led low temp until crispy!0

For me, it's always about the portion control, because many/most of the suggestions listed are about the same calories as a single portion of potato chips anyway, especially the Lays Baked Potato chips.
I like Synder's of Hanover Butter Snaps Pretzels at 120 calories a serving and Sun chips at 130 calories a serving.
But.................I don't eat directly from the bag anymore. I portion the bag out into the 1 ounce servings in zip loc baggies. It makes for more conscious snacking, and if were to pick up a second bag of chips or pretzels, I'd be well aware of it. ;-)0 -
Air-popped popcorn
nuts
pickles
carrot sticks or grape tomatoes with hummus
baked tortilla chips (I use Guiltless Gourmet brand) with salsa0 -
If you like nuts, pistachios = awesome!!!0

Try lightly salted roasted seaweed!! If you like it then you will love it. 60 calories for the whole package and really low in sodium like 3% of your daily value0

I agree with the special K cracker chips and the veggie straws, those are both great. Also, Emerald makes nut thins in a bunch of different flavors. I have had the almond nut thins smokehouse flavor and it reminded me of a BBQ potato chip.0

Seriously, Special K Cracker Chips. They have saved me.0

I'm the same way. I love kettle chips, so I buy Cape Cod's 40% reduced fat kettle chips. They're super crunchy since they're kettle chips, but they're fried for less time and then "flash-baked" afterwards, so they're less fattening. Plus, there's only three ingredients in the original: "potatoes, canola oil, and salt". If you're looking for chips that don't taste amazing but are very low in cals/fat, these aren't the chips for you. But if you refuse to sacrifice all flavor and miss the taste of genuine kettle chips, the cape cod reduced fat ones are definitely reasonable. Since they taste so decadent, it's easy to stop at one serving, because you don't feel deprived!
I also like Popchips, when I want something even less fattening. But they're not nearly as crunchy as the cape cod chips. The barbecue flavor of Popchips is THE best barbecue flavor in chips I've ever tasted!
I also like baked tostitos. At first I hated the texture and just had to have the traditional tortilla chips, but I've gotten used to it now and like them just fine.
And there's always popcorn. But I'd oil or air pop it at home, so you don't get all the nasty chemicals and artificial stuff in the microwave bags.0 -
Salt and vinegar rice cakes, or children chips, like pom bears, which are most air and about 90 cals a packet.0

I have the same trouble, I love chips but after buying the Stacy's I realized that the amount of calories is really the same as any other chips out there. I just stopped getting any since those are my real weakness. I have portion them in the beginning but after a couple of months I somehow have just stopped eating them. I'm sure I'll keep eating them eventually but for now I have managed to stop the monster asking for them.
I tried the Special K ones but somehow they taste sweet to me. I like crunchy and salty (more the salty than the crunchy). I get my fix with low fat string cheese which I know is not crunch but it gives me the salty. I also love olives and green peppers teamed with garlic salt. Not good for the people keeping track of sodium. I'm a sodium junkie but I'm working on it. I tried to not do the really salty stuff very often.
What are popchips? Never heard of them.
