Hoping I have finally got the kick in the pants I need to lose some weight. I seriously considered not going to a funeral tomorrow because the last time the people there saw me I was literally half the woman I am now (and I fully mean that in the size and weight category) How aweful is that? I don't want to pay my respects to a dear friend because I am fat?

I don't think it's "awful", I think you were honest with yourself and how you were feeling at the time. And now, it's time to take those feelings and put them into real action...............which you can!
Best of luck in your journey back to health!

I would call this a NSWUC (non-scale wake-up call). You recognize the problem, that is always the hardest part. To be blunt, what are you going to do about it and what are you going to do so you don't quit?

I don't know what I am going to do yet to keep myself motivated. I think step 1 for me is to write down all of my 'excuses' and self-sabotaging thoughts and work through those. Then, I need to make some time for me. I am not good at that last part!

I like that first one. As for the second, find some time in your schedule, pen in some exercise, and then do not allow it to be changed or skipped for any reason. This is what I've needed to do as it was very simple for me just to put off exercising. Also make it a part of your schedule to track your calories so that it becomes habit. It's these little things that will help you stay on course.
