Namaste
My name is anandi.I am from India.I joined 28 days back .lost 2 kgs.I have hypertension and hypothyroid prblm.I want to loose weight. I was working in communication dept as supervisor for 38 years.I recently retired from service.after reading the success stories I feel motivated.I want to loose some weight.I am grandmother.I am pure vegetarian.bye

    welcome. glad you are having success. keep up the great work. i lost all mine by weighing everything before i ate it, logging it all after i ate it. getting a little exercise each day and then getting a bit more the next. i am a veggie too.

    Anandi,there is a wonderful group of women who post to each other daily....we call ourselves women ages 50+...we are from all over...US, Canada, UK, and sometimes a woman from Mumbai posts. we share encouragement and support with each other.

    You can do this, if you weigh/log carefully & stick to goals consistently. I'm 59, hypothyroid, "impure" ( ;) ovo-lacto) vegetarian, and have lost 42 pounds since mid-April this way. Best wishes!

    With hypothyroidism can not loose weight as the body metobolism is slow. Thanks for your motivation .I will stick to my goal and loose.

    best thing for hypertension is to walk everyday

    *If* one's metabolism is slower, it may be necessary to eat slightly fewer calories to lose the same amount of weight, compared to someone with a faster metabolism.

    But if you log food accurately, and see what happens with your weight, you'll figure out what the right calorie level is for you (patience - it may take a few weeks of experimenting!)

    If your hypothyroidism is well controlled with medication, you'll likely lose at the same rate as others.

    You absolutely *can* stick to your goals & lose!

    Welcome Anandi. Best advice I can give you is read MFP threads. I read Getting started, general weight-loss questions & exercise/fitness throughout my day. I've learned so much & everyone is so helpful. Good luck on your weight loss journey :)
