Well yesterday was day one (again), and as usual my sweet tooth got the better of me and sent me way over my goal for the day.
Does anyone have any tips for dealing with an out of control need for sweet things!! :)

I usually try to work them into my daily calories. If I need to run that extra half mile to burn it off I do so. I never deprive myself of anything so if having that chocolate or whatever the sweet may be is worth it to me, I just make it work. I am not good at cutting things out permanently, it makes me want them more.

Just work it into your calories and don't feel guilty. Guilt usually drives us to over eat because it takes the joy out of it. I have learned that if I want something sweet, I get it, eat it, enjoy it! Then I log it and move on! I have learned that food isn't important enough to consume my thoughts.

I had cravings for ALL THE THINGS last night. I wanted chocolate, cream cakes and biscuits. I didn't want one or two pieces and fit them into my goals. I wanted to feel 200g of Cadbury's Dairy Milk in my mouth at once, eat strawberry and fresh cream cakes until they came out of my ears, and biscuits until I felt sick!

Fortunately, I didn't have any in the house (I usually do, and eat in moderation), so I promised myself that if I still wanted something after dinner I'd go and buy some. I made a big meal of chicken and noodles with veg (867 calories worth!) and lost the craving whilst keeping within my calorie goal for the day.

From this, I've realised that when I want to over-eat sweet stuff I'm actually just hungry. I don't get stomach cues for hunger due to neuro problems so my situation may not be yours, but maybe you're just hungry too?
