Almost 40 and starting to workout for the 1st time in my life

I was at a satisfactory size until about 3 years ago when I quit smoking. Even then I said I was the most out of shape person I knew including people that were heavier than me. Today I am 45 pounds heavier and if I was out of shape then, 3 years later things are much worse. Today I tried on work out clothes and based on the way I was sweating I consider that to be my first workout of the week. I am beginning a "beginners bootcamp" tomorrow and I'm scared to death to really see how hard this is going to be on me. I can say that I WANT THIS and that I am REALLY READY for a change. It is horrible feeling this way all of the time...physically. I am happy with who I am, and my size hasn't changed that. I would love to be smaller but don't feel defined by my size in any way. I am just tired of feeling exhausted. Sooooo I am going to keep a daily summary of how I am feeling mentally and physically, and I am going to pray and look for scriptures that support what I am trying to achieve, or that give me direction and strength for what I am facing on that given day. I would love for others that are in the place that I am, or those that are past this phase but that started here, to provide support and words of encouragement, but mostly a REAL and HONEST communication about what they are going through each day as they face their fear and this extreme challenge like I am. The reason I haven't stepped up to the plate until now...it's because I didn't see weight as who I am...truth is it has nothing to do with my personality, but it has everything to do with who I am. I am no longer going to be lazy, unmotivated, weak, uninspiring, complacent, and physically unable to embrace and enjoy this life that God blessed me with. BETTER LATE THAN NEVER...HERE I GO!

Congratulations for making the first step. Sometimes admitting you aren't happy with the way you are is the hardest part of this whole process so well done for that. This isn't going to be easy but it doesn't have to be hard either - I promise you can do this. You just need to dig deep and find that willpower that I know you have. Everything is possible! I am 50 and lost 45 lbs it just takes some time, enjoy every day, every moment better than ever. Eating is a pleasure, never forget that it's just not about quantity, ...0 -

I'm 52 and just started bootcamp last week. It's tough but you can do it. I'm doing things I never thought I'd be able to. You'll be sore and stiff but you'll also feel like you're accomplishing something. Before starting bootcamp I lost 17 pounds and I still have about 15 more to go, so I definitely wasn't in very good shape. You'll do fine. Good luck!0

You can do it. 44 here and only learnt to ride a bike a couple years ago now. I really believe anything is possible. You will surprise yourself when you keep at it. Good luck.0

You've made a big first step by deciding you were ready for a change. When I first started I could hardly get through a workout without being so out of breath after the first 10 min. I'm not gonna lie, it was hard, but when you take it one day at a time, you build upon what you last did. Eventually, you get to a point where you perform so much better than day 1. As long as you commit to pushing a little harder than the last time, the next thing is you'll realize you've gotten so much better. Good luck...just keep in mind it takes time. It doesn't happen overnight.0

Ugh, it really does get more stubborn as you get older! Lose it before your body changes. I've been eating well and doing cardiovascular since I lost my job in June and I can't seem to shake it.
Being honest with this app and keeping focused on your goal hopefully helps.
